Wow,
It's been soo long since I've had a chance to journal. I've been staying completely raw, though I am drinking red and white teas. I love them.
Okay, let me count, today is day 23 I believe.....nice. I was definately hungry a lot last week, and, since I hadn't had time to prepare many recipes, I relied on those raw larabars, too much. Kept me from losing any more weight. So, I stopped those on Friday, and I've lost another pound or so.
Today I had a new experience....my husband broiled some hamburgers for himself and my stepdaughter, and I was totally repulsed by them. There was a time that they smelled really good to me....and, in the last few months or so, they just weren't appetizing at all. Now, I am actually repulsed by them. How interesting. I made a bunch of recipes today....
Mock Pad Thai (I love those sprouts with that sauce!) zucchini hummus (very good), salsa (I think I'll use less vinegar next time), and the carrot cake...omg...amazing! Even my stepdaughter, who is reluctant to try my "weird" food was falling all over herself with praise for the carrot cake. She loves it. She even got excited to show me what she could make raw...and made some strawberry applesauce in the food processor sweetened with fresh squeezed orange juice....yay...that was cool to see her make something and enjoy it too.
She says her mom has Alissa's book and "tried" the diet (though no one can remember when), but decided that it wasn't good for you because things are missing that your body needs, and you "get sick and die". Wow. I had some serious educating of my stepdaughter to do. (It is so funny to hear that coming from her mom's mouth...her mom is about 120 lbs overweight, and eats hamburger helper for dinner, 2 liters of coke and bags of pre-popped popcorn as eveningtime snack. She has a heart condition at age 35, and gets sick at least once a month. And she has the nerve to say that my diet is unhealthy?...wow.)
Anyway...I am doing great. Went to a birthday party yesterday....they had salad for me, and some blueberries..that was very nice. People asked me questions...they are all familiar with vegan, but, when you toss in the raw, they look at you funny. It was no problem though, really. I wasn't really tempted, except for the corn-on-the-cob. I had carrots and a banana with me, too.
Definately detoxing today...achy, slight nausea, tired, a little dizzy. trying to drink lots of lemon water.
Noticed that I do feel really very cold at times...trying to consume everything at room temp, to ease the digestion some. Also noticed that I am bruising easy, and not healing very fast.... in Oriental medicine, that is a sign of deficient Spleen energy...so, I am taking herbs to help tonify that energy. And the warm tea helps. Had some constipation last week, though I think it was the larabars.
So we'll see how this week goes.
I have to say that I really appreciate this forum and all the lovely people on this same journey. Even though I lack time to check it and write in and respond to people, just knowing that you all are here is a huge help and support....especially since I don't know anyone here personally. I am still looking for a raw community here near Clearwater, Florida.
Love and light to you all....
Dawn
