Handing out invitations to my Pity Party!

Rate this Entry
Come one - come all!

Xena is having another pity party!! ;)

I'll tell ya - ruling the throne and being the dehydrator Queen isn't as easy as it looks... now I know I make it 'look' easy. It's a 'practiced art' ...

but the reality is - IT IS EXHAUSTING!! (and this Xena outfit still pinches a bit in the butt area - adding to my discomfort!!) 'uncooking' while wearing leather is not the easiest thing to do!!

Unlike Ms Gorgeous 4 God - ms lisaNatoli who is now repeatedly bending over in front of family and friends now that her pants fit!! LOL!!! ;) I am still struggling in this leather thong under this Warrior outfit!!! Big Bottoms and thongs are a scary combination - they are NOT meant to go together girls - a thong can get lost in there!! ;) LOL!!!

Okay now -- I DO love the foods that come out of that dehydrator - my magick box!! BUT THE PREPARATION (now this after I just told lisanatoli to get a dehydrator!! )

It IS WORTH IT - I SWEAR!!! in the looong run...!

and it depends on what recipe you are making - that's the whole thing I guess.

Well - I planned for two weeks to make the famous Calzone recipe in Alissas book... drove over an hour to a special hfs to get buckwheat, and the other ingredients.

Ohhhhh you know what it is... it's the timing of it all. B/c of dh and his 'cannot run the dehydrator' nonsense. So I'm constantly having to schedule things so it is convenient for HIMmmm.... ahhahhhh.....

hmmm...

well. solved that -

NO THE PARTY IS NOT OVER -- I'M STILL VENTING HERE!!

The other part is planning all the prep work... Taking into account the AMOUNT OF HOURS things have to cook.

BEFORE you can make the Calzone - you have to sprout the buckwheat... that's like 1 to 2 days.

The dough for the calzones takes 3 to 4 hours - then flip
dehydrate for an additional 1 to 2 hours.

The fill with stuff --

sounds easy enough - only... I have to deal with dh... so I also have to take THAT into account.

So you have to figure out how far in advance to begin sprouting the buckwheat, and when it's almost ready - you have to soak the flax seeds...
That's a lot of stuff soaking on the counter too - and if you SAW the size of my kitchen... ayeeeee..

I think this recipe was just a tad too much for me!
But right now -- my house smells DIVINE!! The flavors of the nut mozarella cheese and spinach and veggies -- smell wonderful --

but the thing has to cook for like 18 HOURS !
SOooo you have to take THAT into account too - so that when it's done - you're AWAKE TO EAT IT!!!

I know this complaining will be a thing of the past as soon as I bite INTO that Calzone! all this will just melt away into a fog of bliss !

the thing to remember with the dehydrator is that you REALLY have to plan ahead... right Mary?? (who is my personal hero right now for surviving homemade Lasagna -- that SHE had to prepare!! Tough as nails that girl !!)

Knowing that it takes hours-- and I do MEAN HOURS - in the dehydrator - you cannot just 'whip up' something like Calzones! You have to be smart and plan. If you KNOW - you're going to have a bunch of people around eating something like .... (ahem .... Lasagna....) you plan ahead and make sure that you have something wonderful for your self to eat too!!

Whether it's a wonderful salad, smoothie, juice feasting cocktail, or something more substantial like ... Alissa's famous Calzone.

I'm sure if Alissa ever read this she would crack up cuz I'm being such a baby ... but frankly girls... I'M FRICKIN EXHAUSTED HERE!!! I've been prepping, chopping, mixing, (and complaining...) ALL DAY!!! ;)

AND IN A VERY TIGHT LEATHER XENA OUTFIT these lace up boots are killin me here!!! Where's the SYMPATHY???

okay... thanks for listening... party's over... please take your party favors with you and you may keep the party hat too! ;)

and the big question is -- would I do 'away' with my dehydrator???
ARE YOU KIDDING ME - NEVER!! Besides - where else can I wear this Xena outfit?

These lace up boots are killing me! Where's the sympathy! hahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahhahaha I am laughing over here. You absolutely need to buy The Bombshell Manual of Style by Laren Stover. It's was written about YOU and FOR YOU. You will love it. You are a textbook classic example of the bombshell. Va-va-voom.

StarFire... I live for the day I can actually bend over without someone fainting at the size of my big arse... let alone dare to wear a leather thong! The thought of that is just simply FRIGHTENING! Anyway, as you know, I totally understand the frustration! There's got to be a better way to do the timing on these recipes, and I haven't found it yet either!

Anyway, for myself, I'm wondering if the key is to make the components of the recipes in steps and have them in the refrigerator. Only problem, at least for me, is that my fridge is already stuffed with produce, coconuts, soaked almonds, etc., along with food for my family, so it is challenging! Have I encouraged you yet?

Thank you so much for the encouragement, StarFire... you are so AWESOME! I think I am going to try preparing some of the dehydrated components in advance. I want to make enchiladas, so I will try to make the corn tortillas ahead of time and store them in the fridge. This way, the morning I want to make them, I will take the tortillas out, fill them with the veggies, and put them in the dehydrator so that they are ready by dinner time. I'll let you know how that goes... :)

P.S. (My turn to be chatty today...) Thanks for the tips on the flax crackers - I will try that! I am currently trying to sprout some sweet brown rice to make crackers out of that... I'll let you know how it goes! So... don't let your thong give you a wedgie... hang in there sweet lady.... YOU TOTALLY RAWK!

Gotta love it!!!! Starfire, I've made the calzone before and preparing the fillings ahead of time really saves on time and space. You can also put the sprouted flax in the fridge until you're ready to mix it with the buckwheat. It is a bit time consuming, but I do believe you'll like the finished product.
