Raw food and emotions

Rate this Entry
Before I started raw, I didn't realize just how much food affects me mentally and emotionally. When I was on a 100% SAD in my early 20's I had uncontrollable mood swings, rages, outbursts, etc. I'm sure most doctors would have put me on antidepressants.

As I eliminated certain foods over the years to treat my PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) and insulin resistance: processed foods, excessive processed sugar, fast food, MSG, HFCS, non organic meat and dairy. Then eventually dairy, soy gluten, and coffee, my moods improved. But when I rent raw just a few weeks ago, it feels like a emotional weight has been lifted off of me. I'm not sure if there was something I was allergic to if it was just cooked foods in general, but I am a happier person. Despite not feeling satisfied and trapped with work and dealing with loss, its easier to see light at the end of the tunnel.
