Day 1 & A Half

Rate this Entry

May 3rd, 2007 - Today is my first FULL day on this raw foods adventure. Here is how that came to be:
Two nights ago I didn't feel like cooking dinner, so hubby suggested that we order pizza (for the second time this week...a HIGHLY UNUSUAL occurrance for us!) So, I decided that was a great idea, since I had been craving the "Lone-star Bar-b-q Chicken Pizza" we had earlier in the week, anyhow. The pizza arrived (we also got a half canadian bacon and pineapple and half meat combo pizza) and I devoured 4 slices while watching tv with the fam. I believe I followed that up with about a third of a cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips...you know, to curb my sweet tooth/chocolate craving. Later on, I stayed up late to finish reading a book I had been working on for weeks and around 1:30am I got hungry again...so I wandered downstairs to the kitchen and had another 2 or 3 slices of cold pizza...each time I reached for another slice I told myself how bad it was for me, but proceeded to stuff it into my face, anyhow.

The next morning I woke up feeling just awful! Like I had been drugged. My head was "foggy" and I felt puffy all over. My eyes were swollen, my face looked puffy and I felt fat all over. I swore (per usual) that I would never do that to myself again!

Next day (yesterday) I had an interview at a local bakery for a position as a baker. I had never been to this bakery before, but they specialize in hand-crafted, old world artisan breads and pastries. Of course, I had to sample the product I would be creating if I was going to work there. I bought a couple loaves of bread, a sticky nut roll, an oatmeal raisin cookie, a chocolate dipped apricot macaroon and a parmesan black pepper stick. I harfed all of the individual serving items (everything but the loaves of bread) and had a slice of each of the loaves (dipped in olive oil, of course!) Again, I felt FAT and hated myself for it!

Later that afternoon I was on my MySpace page searching for new friends to add to my friend list when I came across a woman's site that caught my interest. She was all about raw foods and the increased health and well being that are achieved via eating an all raw diet. I was intrigued, so began doing some research and found the Raw Food Network, which led me to several other raw food sites....and I was captivated! I found the FREE raw food eBook and was delighted! I spent most of the evening reading that, then decided to give it a try. I ate only raw food for the rest of the evening and at about 11pm I made a trip to the grocery store and stocked up on lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, nuts and seeds.

Sooo....today is actually my first FULL day on this plan...but I am actually already seeing benefits from doing it the second half of my day yesterday.

Here are my stats so far:

Yesterday morning I woke up and weighed in at 185.5 pounds! That is more than I ever weighed 9 months pregnant with any of my 3 kids! Horrendous!

This morning I weighed in at 181.5. Sweet...but probably mostly water weight. I tend to fluctuate between these two numbers a lot lately...so I am not too excited yet.

I'll write more tomorrow.

How long have you been following a Raw Foods lifestyle?

By the way, my 23 year old son lived in Hawaii for a year and a half a couple of years ago and LOVED IT!

    Aloha!
