A Little of This; A Little of That

Self-Righteous Indignation

Rating: 2 votes, 3.00 average.
Out walking again this morning (where I seem to get many of my ideas, awareness and clarity ~ there, and in the shower), I was thinking how long it's been since I have felt what I call "self-righteous indignation." I may be wrong yet, what I think that means is HAVING to be right about something which means, of course, someone else has to be wrong.

I don't know how it is I got to the point where things I would get incensed about at one time ~ things I'd build a case about ~ things I'd get others to side with me on ~ just aren't that big a deal anymore.

Very often I may say something to make my feelings on an issue known then, if nothing changes, I move on.

One very cool saying I learned a bit ago is ~ "It is what it is".

What brought that up is, of course, the brouhaha that's been going on on this forum. This morning I received a few letters (why THIS morning and not any other?) chastising me for not "taking a stand" on what's going on.

So, what IS going on? well, we have a limit on editing and... what?

I'm told things have gotten "ugly" here. Well, the only things I've seen that I would call "ugly" are the continuous postings of people saying how this forum, Alissa's forum, should be run.

My response to that? Say what you have to say then, let it go. IF you don't like it, leave! There are LOTS of other raw food forums around and I belong to most of them so, if you'd like some suggestions...

Just don't make YOUR/OUR home here ugly! Someone putting that we have only :05 to edit doesn't make it ugly. The threads condemning it ~ over and over ~ does.

O.k., moving on.

Check the tapes in your head when there's an issue. If they keep going on and on, saying the same thing; if you find yourself talking to yourself saying the same thing over and over, trust that it's your ego talking, not your sane, conscious, rational self. How do I know this? Been there, done that.

Now, as far as "battles" go. What's going on here, as far as rules and regs, well, don't 'specially care for some of it yet, I've been here long enough to know one thing ~ things change.... and, so far, life goes on.

If whether I can edit in :05 or not is my biggest problem, I've got no problems.

There's a saying ~ choose your battles... well, I'd just as soon not battle and, mostly, I'm in a place where I've not had to in quite some time.

Injoy,

I really enjoyed your comment Revvell. I am not a fighter at all and actually avoid confrontation. (am more than a bit timid) Definitely some things just aren't that big a deal. It's beginning to look like maybe some, but very few, actually "pick fights". I still enjoy being here. If I see a thread or post that looks odd or suspicious, I simply ignore it (if I take my time and am careful). I learn a lot about raw living food and need the encouragement I get especially since I slip back to SAD and coffee so many times. This is where I learned about RAW. I also don't have enough time as it is to spend reading here - let alone find fault with anything on this site. And I have been using your "Smoozie" book!

Thank you for all the hard work you do for us.

    Sue.

Thank you for your comments, Sue. I was just going to post to a thread where someone said I was "wrong" in my stance after having thought about it for awhile and realized, to me, I'm not. I'm at peace. I'm not "trying" to change something, knowing it will all change again and again. The only constant in life....

This is a good and often great forum with a lot of knowledge. Every once-in-awhile there's a little upheaval but it settles down again. Thank you for reading and weighing in. I appreciate you.
