day 1 juice feast and question on shingles

Rate this Entry
Today is my first day of juicing and I'm really looking forward to it! I water fasted the past 4 days and my body is feeling so clean and light. I'm down to 122.4 today and THRILLED about it :)
My first juice this morning is going to be cucumber, celery, kale, apple, lemon and ginger. Then later today I think I will have beet, carrot, spinach, apple, ginger.

Excited that both my husband & I have today off work. I'm not sure what we're going to do. We have some shopping that we need to do for wedding presents, but I don't know after that. We were planning on going golfing, but my husband got this weird rash under his arm so now he doesn't want to golf because his swing would rub right over the sore spot. He went to the doctor yesterday and they think he has shingles. What the heck? I thought only old people got that - he's only 29! The doctor couldn't give him anything to make it go away. He prescribed these patches to put on it to make it feel better, but it doesn't actually eliminate the shingles. We have no idea how he got them. The doctor said it might be stress & sunshine, but that doesn't really make sense to me. It's not like he hasn't had stress & sunshine before - and he hadn't really been out in the sun anyway. Anyone have any knowledge of shingles?

    Hey Steph,

Congrats on 122.4! WOWSERS! WOO-HOO! How tall are you btw? Just curious. ;)

About hubby's shingles. I'll have to do a search but, my sister had them a couple of times and she was in her late 30's and early 40's. The dr. told her it's caused or triggeredby stress. I do know it's really painful. So, I would start with some stress reducers for him and then add more clean water and greens if he will. Let me add my congratulations to your fasting. I've done various juice and water fasts over the years. Each has been an extraordinary experience. I'll be watching for your reports!

    Thanks to both of you!
    Jen, I'm 5'2"
I feel my best when I'm between 110 and 115, so I still have a ways to go, but I'm definitely feeling better than I was. How are you doing? Last I saw you were down to 124. Is that holding for you?

    Hey Steph,

I did not think you were that short for some reason. :) hehe! 110 - 115 is probably a really nice healthy weight for you. I'm 5'4 and really feeling like 115 - 120 is a good place for me to vascilate. ;) I'm 125 today and that's acceptable. :) Still working through the challenges and learning alot. You can read about it on my personal blog.

I hope the rash is getting better.

My husband gets a rash under his arms in hot weather. It is a chafing thing with him. I make him put on a 12% Zinc Oxide cream called "Calendula Diaper Care", made by Weleda Baby. Don't know about shingles, but for a heat rash it is very effective.
