Getting Back to Good, Me and My Bro

Rate this Entry
So much better! I am eating normally again, but a lot less. A 16 oz green smoothie is more than enough. I don't think that is about being sick though. It started a month ago when I began sharing my daily smoothie with my brother. Seems the quart+ size smoothies I was consuming were not really necessary.

Today's smoothie was an orange, banana, a small handful of blueberries picked fresh from my garden, rainbow chard, and VG. Not nearly as good as yesterday's; nectarine, apricot, spinach, and VG smoothie, but still very good.

I finally got to eat the zuchinni marinara for dinner last night. It was amazing. The Meatless Balls were already in the dehydrator when I got sick. I covered zuchinni noodles in blender marinara, put the Meatless Balls on top and put the whole dish in the dehydrator for 6 hours. The extra moisture evaporated, the noodles got soft and soaked up the marinara flavor, and the dish was warm. I ate all the Meatless Balls but only half of the noodles. I got full before my plate was empty. That is the really amazing part.

Three hours after dinner I wanted something else special. (Still lonely without hubby at home..?) I rememebered the almond milk frozen in the ice cube tray. Put six cubes in the food processor with less than a cup of fresh pitted cherries that came in my CSA box. Added a squirt of clear agave nectar and 1/4 of a vanilla bean (seeds only). The combination of marzipan flavor and the cherries was a delight. Still, I only ate half. Normally, I would have polished it all off and wished there was more.

Despite eating again my sickie weight loss is holding. I intend to keep it that way and lose a lot more.

I mentioned sharing smoothies with my brother. He has been here a month now on a raw food diet and has lost 37 lbs. He is doing it his way. One glass of smoothie and a couple fruits a day, and walks many miles every day. Mostly while out looking for a job. When he started his weight and blood pressure were both at 230, seriously dangerous territory. Now his weight and blood pressure are both down in the 190's. Not great, but a major improvement. And he is not done yet. He is razzing me that he is going to catch up to me.

The race is ON!

It's no fun being sick and the only positive end result is a shrunken stomach.

hmm...maybe I need to try that with my smoothies. I always fill a mason jar which is 32 oz. Maybe that's too big.

No fair - I want cherries in my CSA box! Were those from last week? I skipped my box last week because I was out of town. I'm excited for the pluots this week!!!
