A Little of This; A Little of That

Whew! Busy week and been slacking on updating here. All I can say is, on Sat. I think I finished with between 3,000 and 4,000 steps but I DID do some bodyweight and Bugarian bag training. Sunday I finished with between 6,000 and 7,000 steps. Yesterday, I took Ped off about 4 p.m. with almost 10,000 steps so I know I did waaaaaay more than that as I had class and class was TOUGH!
We started out with some bodyweight movements, 2# Indian Clubs (start with 1#'ers, even my teacher did and we all still use them), and lightweight fitness balls. THEN, he brought out the sand bags. Sheesh! Had us run up and down the drive carrying the things overhead, in our arms, on one shoulder, then the other; throw them in front and back over our heads. I am SO stiff and thinking I'm going to be REALLY sore!
So, what's the answer to being really sore after a workout? Do more. Yup! A lil of hair of the dog that bit ya. Moving will get energy flowing through the muscles so, the next day (when usually you'll be hurting even WORSE), you'll instead, be feeling better.
Having said that, last night I went to bed a little after 10; woke up a little after 4; got up and was out the door by 5. It's 8:50 a.m. and I've logged 8705 steps so far. Think I'll make my 10,000?
Came home, made a lovely lettuce, cabbage, tomato, celery and kale salad.
Oh! the awareness I had the other day I wanted to tell you about. I was wondering how it is I eliminate weight when at Raw Spirit festivals and why I maintain it at home. The difference I see is, at home I eat fruit ~ and LOTS of it! When at RSF's, I eat salads yet with, avos and pates. Not much fruit! I didn't move all THAT much.. certainly no more than I do here.. and usually less.
Since leaving RSF Santa Barbara, I've kept the weight off and maybe even lost a pound or two and been eating fruit... cherries... like crazy AND olives and avos.
Currently, other than the fruit difference, I still can't get a handle on why we gain/drop weight. When I was eating vegetarian SAD, I'd eliminate 6-8 pounds of weight in the summer because I'd be eating more fruit. On raw, it seems I have to eat more fatty foods such as olives and avos. The so-called "burning calories" doesn't seem to make much difference. I do remember that when I went to they gym regularly ~ 4-5 times a week minimum, I'd drop excess fat w/in 6-weeks to 2 months.
I'm thinking since menopause, more readjusting is needed and, since I've got about 15#'s of cherries in the fridge and 3/4 of a Rawmazing pie there, I'll certainly be getting fruit and fat today... along with this a.m.'s salad. :)
By the way, if you've not picked up The Live Food Factor, highly recommend it. Remember to use the word PROMO to get $5 off, 'k?
Enjoy!
