A Little of This; A Little of That

Fit or Fat or Fat 2 Fit?

Rating: 2 votes, 5.00 average.
Something else to be aware of in the Fit or Fat? lifestyle and that is ~ when wanting something, do you REALLY like it? For me, I don't especially like the cheese, the bread or the pizza He gets so, why AM I wanting to eat it? (see the last post about monkey mind). Next question ~ are you raw or not? IF you are not 100%, then it's easier to dive into cooked foods of all kinds by saying "well, I'm NOT 100% raw sooooo...."... If you are, you say "I'm raw vegan" and be done with it.

I've done that with first, not drinking. "I'm a non-drinker"; "I don't drink". What's fun with that one is, people will ask me if I'm a friend of Bill W's or, if I have a drinking problem (well, no, I don't drink ~ where's the problem?)... they assume SOMEthing has to be wrong if I don't drink.

When I went vegetarian, same thing. "I'm vegetarian". That was the end of it. I just don't eat animal carcasses.

So, raw has to, for me be the same. Awareness. Am I raw, or not. If not, how willing am I to go in not eating certain cooked items or, OVEReating what I eat? The thing for me is, when eating cooked food, it's so devoid of nutrients, I overeat so, the solution is IF I'm going where cooked food is served, eat ahead, be nourished. If I can, bring something raw to share. Doesn't have to be much; doesn't have to be mentioned that it's raw... just bring it, share it and enjoy your food and the company.

You know, that's SOOO true!!! I've GOT to stop conveniently saying (at times) "Well, I'm NOT 100% Raw SOOOO..."!!!! You are so right!!! I've actually never considered that before. And, why am I NOT 100%... I WANT to be... I honestly am "MOST" of the time. I guess I need to say, "I'm a RAW FOODIST. I don't put "THAT" into my body...(whatever non raw food it is)"... I still have to cook for my family, but I'm not going to make it harder than it has to be. If I "don't eat it", then I don't eat it. It's a simple yet profound way of thinking of what I am and what I want to continue to be. If 100% is what I "WANT" to be all of the time, then I need to stop taking a "vacation" from it when my former favorite foods happen to be in front of me. Thank you for your words of wisdom and encouragement.

I'm actually going to print my response out and post it on my frig to remind myself of this!!! :)

Thanks for reading Renee and responding. Yes, we're sort of like alcoholics with our addictions. Either we drink (eat cooked) or we don't. Our minds are funny things. We can rationalize anything.

Very good post! And exactly what I told myself when I first went raw.

For me, there is a flip side as well. There are certain foods that are not raw, that if I had the opportunity to eat them again, I would, no guilt, no shame, no monkey mind. Just the enjoyment of that particular food. Thing is, they're not in this country, so it's a non-issue for me. ;)

This is an excellent post. I am careful to say: "I *CHOOSE* not to eat that." People like to say to me.. "Oh, you can't eat that, can you?" And I reinforce that I can. I choose not to. That's SO very different and it also keeps me from looking like some deprived victim.
