On your Mark.......Get Set..........GLOW!
First Trail run of the season and it was...
WONDERFUL!!![]()
Now that I got that out of the way I'll blog about raw eating.
I've been thinking a lot about what I need to do to get back to and maintain a completely raw way of eating.
1. I have to get off Tea and stay off of it! I have quite a black tea dependency. I could seriously drink the stuff all day and sometimes do. No sugar, no cream, just strong and black. Just writing this makes me want to go make a cup. I'm cutting back and will eliminate it totally soon. I've done this before though and always end up drinking it again. I want this time to be different.
2. I have to find a substitute for the cooked foods I crave. There are only two serious cooked cravings I have; Eggs and cheese. How weird is that? Very rarely I'll crave beans but I can sprout chic peas when that happens. But the eggs and cheese thing gets really intense from time to time. Lately I've been eating avocado when it hits and it seems to help.
3. I need to get enough sleep - I tend to rob myself of it. And when the extreme fatigue hits - and I know it will - I have to try to tough my way through it. It's most likely a delayed detox reaction and the answer is probably more rest and high quality raw food.
4. Eventually I'd like to eat smaller portions and grow accustomed to the lighter feel of raw eating. I'm going to back off that for now since I'll be so busy with the other three goals. I'll be happy if I can just stop and think about how hungry I actually am before I eat.
So tonight I was starving when I got home and not at all sure if it was true hunger or just accustomed hunger because I always eat when I get home. I grabbed a handful of cashews, drank some water, got changed and went for my run. I thought I'd make wraps with Chinese cabbage but after my shower I only wanted a green smoothie so I had that and one bare bones cabbage wrap.
So for today:
Half of a green smoothie made with 3 cups water, a banana, two oranges, a grapefruit, about 3/4 pound of bok choy and 2 tablespoons of flax seeds.
two small apples
Green smoothie (odd combobut what my body wanted) 12 ounces of carrot juice, an orange, a banana, and about 6 ounces of kale.
One Chinese cabbage leaf spread with a sun dried tomato and basil pesto kind of thing I threw together two days ago.
None of it is combined right. I had several cups of black tea today but I feel satisfied and had lots of energy for my run even after being on my feet all day today. So it's all good.![]()
