Choose this day whom you will serve (Day 128)
I woke up this morning feeling kind of icky. Actually, I went to bed feeling kind of icky too. Lately I haven't felt as light and airy as I would like. Instead, my gut has felt slightly bloated and full. In an effort to try to remedy the situation I decided to do a water fast. Awhile back I was doing a 24 hr. water fast once a week and it was amazing. I've gotten away from that though and haven't done it in awhile.
I started out with a series of enemas to clean out some gunk and then moved on to a hot epsom salt/baking soda bath, which felt DIVINE. By around 1pm I was starting to waver a bit, not so much out of hunger but boredom. It was then that the passage from Joshua came to me, "Choose you this day whom you will serve." Well, that solidified it for me; today I'm choosing what I know to be right and not what my flesh wants. My flesh wants mangoes and watermelon and grapes and... Those are all really great things but not today. Today I'm choosing to water fast because I KNOW it's what my body wants and needs.
Every day we face situations where we have the power to choose what we know to be right or what feels good for the moment. I want to always choose what is right, not what is easy and convenient. "Choose this day whom you will serve." Indeed!
