Farmer's Market

Rate this Entry
Yesterday I went to the Sunday Farmer's Market. I like to browse at the different tables, but I have my favorites and 'usuals.' I trust them when they say their stuff is organic. At one, I found the strangest thing: Burgundy carrots, called Dragon Carrots. I bought lots and juiced them with apple, celery and ginger.I think they taste the same as orange carrots, but the color of the juice is burgundy! They are beautiful to cut open, because the inside is orange. Wow, what a sight.

I made twice as much juice this morning as I did yesterday with more ginger and I really liked the combination. I am going to start experimenting more with juice.

I also made a delicious raw soup with spinach, avocado, lemon juice, onion and garlic. That really hit the spot. Life is good and green today!

Wow! Burgundy carrots. I've never seen those. :) Did you go to the LB one? I used to love going there.

Oh my, I love your soup. I'll have to try that.

We have 4 a week now: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. The Sunday one at the marina.

The recipe is in Jennifer Cornbleet's book, Raw Food Made Easy: for 1 or 2 People.I like her book so much, because the recipes aren't for an army!

The first time I saw those carrots the farmer told me that it was the original heirloom color of carrots. I have not confirmed that, but I believe him. I don't peel them, don't want to lose any of that gorgeous color.
