Spring Cleaning

Time for a Green Smoothie Cleanse. I am so ready for this. I've had my fill of raw recipes, nut milks, cacao treats. All I want for the next ____ days are Green Smoothies.

I made a discovery today. I have been adding too much water to my Green Smoothies. I read some recipes in a raw recipe book that called for 1/2 to 1 cup of water. I always dump the water in on top of the fruits and greens without measuring. This time I measured a cup of water and put it in. Surprise! It was about half as much water as I normally dump in. The smoothie was 24 ounces compared to my usual 32+oz. It was thick and rich without adding a lot of frozen fruit. I did not feel bloated, and I did not get hungry 2 hours later.

Today's Breakfast: Green smoothie; 3 packed cups rainbow chard and kale, 1 orange, 1 banana, 4 frozen strawberries, 1 T. hemp seeds, 1+T. green powder, 1 cup water

Lunch: Eggplant slices filled with walnut and celery pate (spiced with cumin, oregano, and chili powder), some crackers, and about 1/4 of the crusty cauliflower that I was putting in the dehydrator for dinner. Finished the meal with a few cacao treats.

Dinner: Crusty cauliflower and Curly Kale Chips with Ginger Tea. The kale chips were okay, but not as good as cheesy kale chips. These chips were coated with the pistachio sauce that was leftover after coating the cauliflower. Finished this meal with a few more cacao treats.

After dinner I consolidated the dozen or so remaining cacao treats into the same container and put them in the freezer. I don't care it they keep well or not. I've had my fill. Same with the rest of the cauliflower and kale chips. Not the freezer part, the I've had my fill part. The caulflower and kale, the crackers, and maybe even the frozen cacao treats will be given to my Brother or Aunt. Whoever comes to visit first.

Jennifer, Thank you for doing this Green Smoothie Fast with me. I hope your looking forward to it as much as I am. And thank you for posting Frederic's list of cleanses on your journal today. I want to try all three of them. I'm so excited! It is much more fun doing this together. Anybody else ready? Jump right in!

Did I mention it is a full moon tomorrow? The first full moon of Spring. It is a great day to start a cleanse. And I am taking my daughter to see Victoria and Valya Boutenko present "Green Smoothie Revolution". I'm so excited!

I only put in a cup of water and my smoothies are always nice and thick. :)

I am so ready for a cleanse - you just dont know! ;)

I am being gentle this first day. Since we are doing the Frederic series the 1st cleanse is GS's and Fruit so, I was going to try to not do fruit inbetween but, this morning I was grumbling. So, I had a small cantelope. Yep, the whole thing. Wow! It was very small though. hehehe

Then Green Smoothies and only fruit if I need it. I want to gently let my body relax into this 9 day total cleanse. I'm focusing on just today though. :)

Thank you for doing this with me or I might not have followed through. Having the support is really helpful and encouraging to keep my Determination up!

Let's leave that option open. I would like to have a mono-fruit meal or day mixed in here and there, especially if the smoothie thing goes on for more than 3 days.

Oh, I wish there was a good canteloupe around. I tried to find one Tuesday, no luck. I'll try again. I have some fresh mint. I really want to blend it with a canteloupe or honeydew to make a big sweet smoothie. I may have to put some in a green smoothie today.:)

How do you make a smoothie using cantelope and honeydew? I was just thinking about that.

Yea, I want to take it One day at a time myself and let it flow. :)
