Metamorphosis
I Have to Share This Non-Food Related Story
Next year my daughter starts 10th grade. We went to a Registration event in the gym of the high school. The bleachers were packed with hundreds of parents and some kids. The program included speeches from the principal, activity and athletic directors, etc. etc.
A sweet little girl student from the leadership class gave a speech. It was about how our children had this great school and great opportunity to find themselves and set the course for the rest of their life. She said that her time at high school was the best years of her life. She then asked the crowd how many of us thought high school was the best years of our life. There was absolute silence, and then the whole place burst into laughter. I felt sorry for the sweet flustered little girl, but dang, it was funny.
It helped give me a little perspective about what my daughter might be feeling and brought me back to what it was like being a teenager, so many, many years ago.
