Over the flu...

Rate this Entry
Hello everyone!

Well, my kids and I are FINALLY over the flu!!! Now my Hubby has it! We've all been sick for a couple of weeks. I started eating warm soup and got off of my RAW diet, which was disappointing to me. I've been struggling to get back on it, one meal at a time. I do good with the mornings...only fruit: mostly Clementines, Bananas and Strawberries.

My blender broke, so I have not made my Smoothies either. Physically I'm o.k., but mentally I beat myself up everytime I eat something I know is bad for me. And, I feel disappointed in myself because I've been trying to do this for so long and I'm still at my same weight because I'm not 100% RAW. In my heart I truly WANT to be RAW. But, cooking for my family is taking a toll on me. I feel like there is a struggle going on in my head and I'm gonna scream if I can't get a hold on myself!

Today, I made Alissa's Eggplant Pizza and cut the Eggplant exactly 1/2 inch the way the recipe says, but after 9 hours dehydrating, it's still hard on the inside and doesn't taste good. I always felt that I was cutting it too thin, and tried to follow her recipe to the letter. I really like the topping, though...

I did get up this morning and do 45 minutes on the treadmill!!! It felt really good too!!! I think I'm gonna look for a Vitamix on ebay and try to find a cheap one that I can afford... Well, it doesn't cost to look, right!!!

Good luck on the raw food diet!! I know it's not good to beat yourself up if you're don't succeed the first 50 times hehe. Simply because that will cause you to withdrawl into more emotional erhem, eating. Well, atleast that's what I do when I beat myself up about. So, I decided, TAKE IT EASY!
At least, you're making the effort!!!!! And you're conscious of what this raw food diet can do for you!! Eventually, if you keep at it, you're gonna find a raw food method that works for you!!
So, in the mean time, hang in there!! Let's support each other!! Because my advice to you, is also advice to myself^^

Hi Renee. I think you're doing well - better than you think you are. That eggplant pizza was sure evidence that you're trying! And you like the sauce! As for working out 45 mins on treadmill - now that is just great - nothing to sneeze at at all - you put me to shame as I'm still not brave enough to show my face at the gym. Sorry to hear you were sick too. Just don't give up.

    Sue.

Thanks so much you guys! What you wrote really touched me, and you're so right! I am really hard on myself sometimes. If I feel myself doing that again, I'm gonna go back and read what you wrote. Actually, I gave the Eggplant pizza another hour to dehydrate and it's finally soft inside and good...just the way I remember.

    Hey Nee'

I'm with the others on the "NO BEATING YOURSELF ZONE!" It just doesn't help. David Wolfe always says LOVE what you EAT even if it's SAD because, we bring that energy in us. Enjoy whatever you eat and keep striving for more Raw! Good job on the workout and pizza. I'll have to try that. It's good to see ya back. I was wondering about ya and gettin' ready to send you a message.

Don't be to hard on yourself. Your probably still feeling a bit down from being sick. You will get your enthusiasm back again. And please don't feel bad about not losing weight. I'm proof that just being raw is not enough to lose weight. If we can maintain where we are on the scale, the weight loss will return when we are ready to do it.

I can relate to your struggle cooking for the family. I cook for my family, too. It's okay. It's what we have to do. :) I try to keep a few items in the house that they are willing to cook. Some days I let them fix their own dinner(s), sometimes on their own, sometimes with my help. It's not easy getting one meal on the table, two is definitely a struggle.

Getting that vitamix will put a new wind in your sails and open up all sorts of possibilities. Go for it!
