Food rules & MY motto

Rate this Entry
I have been trying to lose the habit of calling any certain food "good or bad", but sometimes I still ask myself "how will I feel after eating this" I know that if I eat certain foods now that later on I will feel bloated, have a stomache, have the runs and seem to live in the bathroom for a week straight and in some cases (mainly from to much sodium)~makes my lips feel numb & swollen

My motto is it should be tasty, healthy, and most of all quick & easy to prepare. When I open some raw cookbooks and find a recipe with a page long worth of ingredients or even short recipes that require the use of a food processor, blender, juicer and dehydrator all for 1 recipe, I ask myself, “Do they really expect me to spend that much time just to eat?” Then I think of all of the time it will take to wash all the dishes and I give up. Are they kidding?

I'm not really into mono-eating (but do like to keep it that simple)...well except maybe I could live on fruit for a whole day, but not just 1 kind. And I'm usually to lazy to make up fancy recipes for the fruit. Funny how some people will look surprised when I'm walking around the small general store here and all I have in the cart is a whole bunch of produce...someone will ask what I'm gonna do with it all

:::giggles::: What do they THINK you're going to do with it all? Some people are funny!

I have to admit, I actually like spending time in the kitchen but I don't like to spend ALL my time in there. If you don't have it already, buy Alissa's DVD. I felt really overwhelmed with just the recipe book at first but when I watched the DVD and how quick and easy it REALLY is to make this stuff I had no more excuses. Truly, even if the recipe is a full page long it's often a lot easier to prepare than it looks.

Also, I find that most of the time even if it takes a lot of tools to create a recipe it's really simple to wash them because there isn't a bunch of stuck on baked on crud to scrape off. Usually all it takes is a rinse and swipe to get most tools clean. Even my juicer can be used, emptied and cleaned all in less than 10 min.
