WARNING--grossness lies within this post! Not food-related (at least not MY food)--just sharing about my day....
As y'all may remember, I like to make art, specifically collages, and I like to use found objects in my collages. So, today, as I passed a "dump" for the millionth time and I thought I'd stop and give it a look-see. Now this is just an informal dump. I think the people who bought the acreage around Taylor's barn have just been putting trash there for months. There is everything from broken bricks to household detritus to entire dead trees. And more, as I found out.
I was perusing the pile gingerly from the sidelines. I have a bit of grossness phobia, but it's kinda selective. Plain ol' dirt doesn't bother me, nor does herbivorous animal exudate such as horse poop, etc. But if a human being has been in contact with it, it seems extra dirty/germy to me. What can I say? I make no sense.
Anyway, I was extremely disappointed in this pile. It really was mostly just a lot of plastic geegaws, old clothes (shudder!), and garbage like food wrappers and coke cans. I was not about to venture into that. And then I saw them. OMG. Deer legs. Just two of them. I would guess they were front ones. They had skin, hooves. They were completely intact and not bloody or anything. It was so out of context, I just stared at them in shock. And then, Oh, it made me so sad! They were so delicate and beautiful! And so small....I saw some other bones, ribs, etc., so I guess someone dressed a deer there.
I went to another part of the pile and actually did score some broken brick pavers with paint and patina on them--and also found another deer leg and a headless little creature of some ilk. I made sure I picked up all the brick tiles I wanted cuz I am NOT going back.
What I do for my art!
