Monitoring salt and garlic

Rate this Entry
Okay, maybe it's just me but I am noticing a lot of recipes call for liberal salt and garlic...I'm going to work on lessening or even elminating some of these.
I made Marinated Portobello Mushroom Steaks, Broccoli Mash and Mushroom Gravy from "Ani's Raw Kitchen"..but found the mushrooms really, really salty...perhaps my senses are just being heightened or I let the mushrooms soak too long..:):)

I agree! Ani's book has waaaaay to much salt in most of the recipes. I have omitted all the salt and started adding just a touch of shoyu or salt to taste since the first salt-fest!

I don't think I have tried any of Ani's Raw Kitchen recipes but I find that most raw recipes call for way too much salt and garlic and even oil. I mostly omit all salt and will add celery instead, same with garlic and oil - I dont have substitute for these but so far all recipes have turned out great without them. Eating a very pure diet my taste has become pretty sensitive towards these...
