Feeding my Kombucha

Rate this Entry
Been up all night cleaning the house. Teenage daughter hasn't been very helpful with that. So far I have done a huge load of dishes, scrubbed the counters, got the trash out, threw out molding food out of the fridge, and unclogged several drains, including the tub, shower, bathroom sink and kitchen sinks.

It blows my mind she has been ignoring my requests for help when she sees how 12 hour work shifts exhausts me. I have told her if the house is clean I can plan fun activities with her. Take raw food classes out in Sacramento on my days off. She wants to go but can't seem to get it into her head if it's not done that I end up doing it. Any advise out there. What can I do to motivate her?

My soaked cashews spoiled. I hate it they cost so much.

I got back from running errands when I could swear that someone was sitting down the block watching the house as I pulled in. We got in the house when the stranger pulled up in front of my house and rudly and quite loudly banged on the door over and over again with her fist.. I of course ignored it. I refuse to open the door to banging strangers who appear quite angry on my day off. She looked like the ex's boyfriend's old wife.

On top of that the ex and his brother (i think) pulled into my driveway the other week and were snooping by my car. Thankfully my warrior tiger kitty warned me to their presence. They saw me comming and took off. Gives me the creeps. I don't have a fence and can't afford one to protect the car.

Just got done making from Alyssa's book

Miss Ackerly's pesto butter I plan on marinating some mushrooms and stuffing them.
The recipie is so simple and yummy. Hopefully she doesn't mind me posting something so delicious.

1 1/2 cups of pine nuts
1/2 cup basil
1 clove garlic
1 tsp. olive oil. I added more to make the blended blend.
1/4 tsp salt. I ended up using 1/2 tsp.
It needed a tiny bit of water as the blender froze up.

I also made Snow's Ranch Dressing. It's the first time I made it and I really like it.

Then I made a recipie from Matthew Kenney's Everday Raw called Raw Chocolate Chip Cookies

Right now I have in the dehydrator the Raw Chocolate Chips. I can't wait to see how they turn out.

1/34 cups cashews soaked 1-2 hours. I ended up using unsoaked.
1 cup maple syrup (agave would work)
1 cup cacao powder
1/4 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp salt

I had to add some water to help it blend. Vita absolutely did not like this mix. She started to get a bit of BO so I turned her off. It did not blend as well as it could of. If only my soaked nuts did not spoil as quickly. It tastes delicious.:)

Blend, pipe, and dehydrate overnight.

Feel the need for Chocolate, chocolate, and more chocolate so next will be the Chocolate Ganache. Hopefully I can get pictures taken.

A few days ago I dropped a bottle of Kombucha. Well the plastic lid broke off and half the bottle was gone. I spied with my big geen eyes scum floating on top of the liquid. I placed a tablespoon of sugar on it and it started growing. I fed it a tablespoon a day until today which kept it bubbling and fizzing. Within a few days it formed a Scooby. So I brewed some tea up and placed the two inch scooby in it to do it's thing. So it is possible to brew Kombucha from the raw store tea. Can't wait to taste it.

Have to work Halloween night, so I would like to make some kind of raw treat for a potluck.

Well got to get back to blending, dehydrating, and scrubbing. The floors are awaiting and the laundry needs sorting. I will nap sometime today. Have class tonight. Will work on making some tuna to take to work with me.

Your sure a hard worker. I'm ashamed of myself. My teenage (15) daughter doesn't help much around the house either. Her room is a disaster. We had a fruit fly problem and discovered it was from orange peels in her garbage can! As a tween she would resist and say no to helping, and we would argue. She learned to agree with my requests, then proceed to ignore them. I feel like such a nag! She will tell me not to tell her what to do so much because it makes her not want to do it. I tell her if she would just do it I wouldn't have to tell her at all. Hmmm... What's a mother to do? As long as they know if they don't do it we will, why should they bother to do it. If all they have to do is listen to us nagging, they are getting a good deal. I have to use specific, immediate incentives. Saying I will do something for her later doesn't work. She lives in the moment. She's a good kid, trying her best to get through school with a passing grade and no scars. Good luck to you. Please let me know if you discover a good incentive plan. :)

At least she puts them in the trash. Mine does the same thing agrees to help me then totally ignores me. Mine sounds totally the same as yours. Maybe its a secret they tell in school, how to control your mothers to get them to think you will do chores while getting your own way. Ha! We discovered their secret plan. Now we have to come up with an action plan. I got her to mop the floor by telling her it has to be done before she leaves for school. But it was a poor job.

Even with all the work I did last night, the house is still a wreck. Yikes !!! I try so hard and feel like such a slob.

Late note the Chocolate chips taste like very rich, extremely delicious mini cookies. They are holding their form quite nicely. They will work out really well in the chocolate chip cookie recipie. Once they dry enough, I will finish the recipie. Yipee real chocolate chip cookies. They taste hot and gooey like real ones.

oh my - I am completely reliving my teenage years right now. I was such a brat and SO awful to my mother! I don't know how she put up with it. Thinking about teenagers makes me not want to have kids.

Rosepetals, I got a kick out of that. At least she did it! I'm afraid if I told my daughter that, it would take her 4 years to mop and she would never go to school again. Hard not to be outdone by these smart little girls. We just have to keep trying.:)

She is a wonderful young woman with a sunshine personality. Thankfully she does not act like a typical teen. She had her rough years but has blossomed into someone who is extra special and kind to others. I just wish she would help me out more. I am very thankful to have her as my daughter.
