Surprises!

Rate this Entry
I love surprises! Giving them more than receiving. Although, if I don't know about the surprise until it's actually sprung on me, I'm fine. I DON'T however, do very well when someone tells me in advance "I have a surprise for you".

I did get a nice surprise yesterday! I found out I was the winner of the "You Might Be a Raw Foodist...." Video Challenge on Raw Fu. So a huge thank you goes out to Gypsy Mama for starting it and to the lovely Bunny Berry for judging! I'm so blessed and happy!

Also, T doesn't know it yet, and doesn't read this blog, so I'm safe in saying it. I ordered his Exploring Creation with Zoology 1 book the other day. I let it come standard mail though, so it's going to take a wee bit to get here. Zoology is his career path, he told me that when he was 8 "Mom, I want to travel the world discovering new species of animals. I think I'll get my Zoology degree.", and he hasn't changed that in four years now. The boy has a 24 set animal encyclopedia set and a couple of other animal encyclopedia-type books and those are nearly always his choice for reading! So this new addition should continue to help put wind in his glorious sails!

And much to J's chagrin, Mommy wants to, even though he's reading, take him through Hooked-on-Phonics to make sure there are no gaps. SURPRISE buddy! :P He may not be happy about it, but at the same time, this mama only has his future in mind, and would like to see it be a spectacular one at that.

Baby girl has no surprises for us thus far. Although she did have her 9th birthday, so I'm sure there are some coming. I think I'll start bracing myself for those now.

As for the raw food front, there's even been a little surprise in that department. I've come to the conclusion that if I don't get my butt in gear and get these books/e-books written, T may beat me to the punch! He has 3 recipes that he's done all on his own. The first of which was the Strawberry Creamsicle Smoothie. Then there was the cheese-like spread, that one he hasn't made in a while, but MAN was it good, nice kick to it and everything. Well, the other day he outdid himself with an AMAZING salad dressing. You know how some dressings taste like they're a raw dressing? Well, not this one! I'm telling you, the boy is on a roll! Now, if life would just slow down a little, so I could get cracking! ;)

shine--thanks for the recipe tips on my dehydrator post! I will definitely try them. I love my D! About your budding zoologist, it's awesome when kids get a passion early in life. I've seen friends--and children of friends--handle those potentially difficult teen/young adult years with grace and a sense of purpose, because they had a passion and their parents supported it.

Oh, also, I just love Bunny Berry! I didn't sign up for RawFu, but about once a week, I catch up on the videos.

Not a problem! Glad to help! :)

T is a great kid. He's been an old soul since the day he came out. Always ahead in everything and always acting way beyond his years. I can't imagine not supporting what my kids want to do with their lives! Although lil' A wants to run a tiger rescue, and all I can see is her at the size she is now, and a tiger trying to have her for a snack! But I'll do anything she wants/needs to get her there anyway. That's my job after all! ;)
