Planning for an overseas trip

I'm already leaving next Monday!! The 22nd! My kids and I are going to visit my family in Austria. Grandparents, Great-Grandparents, aunts etc! Everybody is still there. Anyways ..... THE FOOD!

I want to stay raw this time! I already had my dad buy me three German raw food books, so hopefully I'll have fun looking for authentic recipes that use ingredients more common in my area.

I'm going to bring a ton of crackers and bread, since I wont' have a dehydrator to use. I will bring my Magic Bullet. I will have everything I need at my disposal .... but it will still be soo though!

A huge part of what I love about Austria is the food! But ..... I have already thought about it a lot, and I think I can have quite a bit of fun, getting ingredients that are more common over there. So I'll start experimenting with Austrian raw foods!

Any suggestions anybody has for a good travel food, let me know! I am also planning on trying out those Nestle crunch bars, it might be a good sweet snack to take.

So far I've been good today! So many times I have been tempted to just grab some Cheez-its again .... I've had grapes all day, then a green smoothie and now I've finally made that buttery pea recipe. I must say, it was different at first, but I gobbled it all up, so yes, I liked it. I will have to try it next with some no-freezer burn peas! :)

How fantastic!!! Are you going to be in Vienna or the countryside? How long will you be there?

If you are bringing the Magic Bullet, don't forget you will also need to bring a plug and energy adaptor!

You can bring fresh fruit to travel with, trail mix is good (sprouted + dehydrated buckwheat is great in that!)... Hmmmm... That's all I can think of at the moment. You can get fresh foods while you're out there!

    Anyways, have fun!

I will be leaving from the Vienna airport, but we are staying with my parents (in the house I grew up in), which is located just 15 minutes south of the Czech Rep. border. Arriving, we will be in the newly established airport in Linz.

My dad is an electronic freak, and has all the converters I could ever want, lol. Plus I have already brought the bullet once, to prepare food for my two kids, since they have always been raw.

And yes, we'll bring lots of fruit, even planning on dehydrated soup mix.

Wow, that's so great!!! And that is also great that your kids have always been raw!!! (Whew, sorry for the excessive exclamation points there). I'm going to be on the lookout for your pointers on that because my husband and I are planning to get moving in the baby department early next year. And we have so many conversations about them being raw. He's not.

Is your husband raw?? (Ha, assumption there, I guess you might not be married.)

No, my husband is not raw at the moment. He actually has attempted it before. He managed over a month, but right now, he's not ready for it. But he agrees, and always has, that eating raw food just makes sense! ;)

Bring back some of the recipes. I miss my German food as well, and I'm sure Austrian and German food isn't that different, specially since I'm from Southern Germany.

Ha! My husband agrees to ... sometimes. LOL. And sometimes, when he starts to give me a hard time, I remind him of "back in the day" when he would have to do the silly exercises to me to help my gas escape. Ha! And had every problem under the sun, it seemed. That brings him back to the supportive side. :) A month?! That's swell, he must agree it makes sense!

Oh, it sounds so great. And what a good time of year for weather! My last two European trips have been in early fall. If you keep it simple, you should be able to eat well and have fun, too!
