Quantity of food - Eating Raw vs Cooked
August 10th, 2008
I was just munching on a raw cob of corn (which was surprisingly yum) and came up with a question, or two, ok, maybe three ...
Why can you eat 4 cobs of cooked corn, but one cob of raw is sufficient and you don't really want anymore?
I understand the concept of "whole/balanced food" but can the brain/cells register it that quickly???? Even if you are overweight ... isn't it true that the aborption of nutrients is slowed down because of it takes longer for them to "seep" through the sludge/fat to be properly absorbed into your system????
Have you had a similar experience? What are your thoughts about this? Any insights? I am trying to get a clearer understanding of the "big picture" - the nuts and bolts of eating this way and one aspect of it is trying to understand how it all works in the body. There is no doubt that I am feeling great, but when I try to explain it to others (because they are curious) the phrase "you just feel great" doesn't cut it ... I am looking for more on the nitty-gritty stuff.
Reflection: Isn't it funny (at least I think it is now that I am doing it) that I have always wondered how to cook certain vegetables ... I have been experimenting with different raw veggies and now two of my favorites are raw asparagus and raw corn - who would have thunk'it!!!
Keeping it simple,
