Keeping it simple ... Aug 11th
Monday August 11th, 2008
What a day this has been, and it is only 2:30pm!!!! Ok, so I said my weigh in is on Friday ... well ... oh heck, here's what happened!
It is Monday so my workout was due for a change. But for hardcore cardio I needed some psyching up. I drove to the gym playing some major based out tunes with a "slightly elevated" volume - it worked. But, once I hit the 30 minute mark of hard breathing and burning through the "I DON'T WANNA DO THIS - GET OFF THIS MACHINE ... NOW!!!" (I have a spoiled princess in my head, apparently) - Yeah, so after the 30 min. I am, like, so done! I got off the elliptical trainer and stretched then hopped back on for another 20 minutes. I survived and boogied my butt the full 50 minutes that I had set out to do. Lesson: If you can't do something full out, for the whole time, break it down - but do it!
Anyway, my point is... two things ... I saw part of a cooking show up on the tv while on the eliptical machine and literally almost gagged (which is a weird reaction first of all - to get to the whopping 287.5lbs. of woman, food was all fantastically acceptable).
Then ... after reaching my goal for cardio today I headed to the change room and there it was ... looming off in the corner ... screaming my name. Taunting me with its numbers and shiny silver foot pads ... THE SCALE!!!
As I changed I reminded myself that I still have another 4 workouts before I "need" to get on it - yeah, it didn't work. I took off my silver watch, shoes, and sunglasses - I mean, why add more weight right? LOL Took a deep breath and in slow motion stepped up on the cold silver foot plates - exhaled and lowered my eyes ... as of today at 11:30am I am 22lbs. lighter!!! I am now 265lbs. And I still have another 2 weeks until I have to return to set up my classroom.
On my way home I stopped in at a friend's house and her and her husband were just sitting down to lunch - homemade corn chowder and freshly baked cheese biscuits. Weird thing was that as they ate and we all chatted, I didn't feel as though I was missing out on anything. A very peculiar feeling, especially since cheese was involved.
I feel strong, energetic, happy, and definitely looking forward to making something new for dinner out of Alissa's book. I am so grateful that I happen to stumble upon Alissa's DVD - the part where she says she lifts weights - that truly has made all the difference. A balance between cardio-weights-eating raw ... better than any pedicure a girl could have.
I wonder what else is gonna happen today!
