Health Up-Date

It has been a while since I have blogged and I need/want to get everything up-dated. Yesterday, my husband and I with a couple of his friends drove to Hope, Alaska. The day was cool and mostly cloudy. They were getting ready to bike over the Resurrection Trail and had left their vehicle at the other end.

After we had dropped them off at the trail head, we went into Hope and ate at a small restaurant. I ordered a lovely salad with no cheese and a Red Pepper dressing. I had brought along some of my kale crisps, a bag of date/raisin/walnut/carob fudge balls rolled in coconut, some raw seeds mix, and some raw nuts for eating along the way. The round trip was over 200 miles.

On the way home we stopped at the hospital and picked up my latest blood work results. Everything looked great over-all, but my blood platelet count was still higher than it should be, but I think that is mostly because that is the way I am built. It was double what it should be, but was still down a little from 5 months ago. Normal is 140-440 and mine was 855 in March and 829 this week.

Surprisingly, my cortisol was in the normal range this time. It is usually runs high but this time it was within range.

My cholesterol levels were good at 171 which is down from the 192 in March. Triglycerides were 114 in March and 91 this time. Both the HDL and LDL were marked as too low at 39 for HDL and 114 for the LDL. I did not know anybody could have LDL too low. Last time it was still considered low at 124.

My total weight has dropped from a high of 224 to 178 now. We bought new clothes a month or so ago because my clothes were too baggy. Somehow we managed to get home with only the skirts and one top and the others must have been left at the store. We cannot find them. I have called Sears several times but have never talked to anyone in Anchorage who can really help. Leaving my phone number for a return call has not been effective.

I had bought 8 tops and have been rotating the one that did get here with some of my other ones. I had not realized it until just this week as my husband picks out my clothes for me to wear each morning. I looked in the closet earlier this week and where there should have been at least 8 new blouses there was one.

I am still so glad that I read the Green for Life book and then decided to eat only fresh, raw foods. I do believe that is why my blood work came back so good, and I am positive that it made all the difference in my finally being able to lose weight!
