dazeyblue's raw journey beginning July 2008
A little bit of this, a little bit of that
I think I've figured out a way to use the 2 cups of sweet nut butter created by accident the other night. Thanks to the "cocoa powder" post today (though very sorry for the reason it's there- wishing good health to the dog!), I got to thinking about incorporating more cocoa powder into food so starting flipping through my little "raw book" I have to jot down recipes and collect interesting information. I came across the Tootsie Rawls recipe and think that by adding cocoa powder I can have some yummy treats. We'll see...
Really looking forward to starting my first full month challenge tomorrow. It feels so cleansing having the ability to start fresh with a clean slate.
I have been at a crossroads in my work life for the last 8 months and feel that this raw change has started to clarify my perception again. I had been working in non profit aquatics/recreation area since I graduated from college and loved it. Though the hours were terrible and pay wasn't that great, I was very committed to the mission of the organization and was devestated when due to "organizational restructuring" my position was cut. After spending 2 1/2 months being told that my master's degree didn't even qualify me for even an office assistant position I was able to get a receptionist job through a temp agency. I love the hours (day is over at 4:30pm plus never work weekends) and just 4 miles from home. There will be a permanent position available in January that I can slip into (only 5 months to go!). Finally getting to the point, I would really like to start looking more seriously into a nutrition course of study. I believe this will be extremely complimentary to my background in exercise physiology and sport science. With my schedule hope to find night course I can take. Definitely something to look forward to!
I have been going the vegetarian route rather than the vegan mostly because I really like honey and wasn't aware of any real reason not to eat it because bees aren't harmed in the process. At least they weren't with the bees we had when I was growing up. But that post the other day explaining more thoroughly how bee pollen is collected really hit me hard. I defintely need to do more checking with my raw honey and bee pollen sources to learn about their methods.
Only two days until the farmers' market! Yippee![]()
