Day One.

Rate this Entry
Got off to a good start!:
6mi run
about 32 oz of cold water
then FIRST GREEN SMOOTHIE (EVER) :) made up of:
spinach
1 peach
handful of red grapes
2 sticks of celery
water
Not too bad for a first attempt! I got the whole thing down and feel full and satisfied - just got some green apples from the market and can't wait to experiment with those guys!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Because it was my first day (and I get to play by my rules ;) ) I decided to let myself eat some raw spinach and fruits as an adjustment stage.

So around 3pm I ate a spinach salad with grapes, lime squeeze and pumpkin seeds (woops - another part of my transition I guess) as well as a bunch of grapes.

8pm I ate a small peach, 4 strawberries
10pm - medium orange

At work today I was surrounded by donuts and cookies and pretzels and pizza - all things that I was easily able to resist! So pretty proud of my day uno - I'm going to do this once and for all.

It's funny, I've been trying to stay raw and vegan for about a month and a half now (but we're talking LOTS of cheating and falling astray - except for meat; I haven't had any meat since the beginning of May, although I have had some eggs and fish on one occasion) and I can already see and feel some changes in my body...My stomach seems MUCH happier with me. And also - I exercise a lot. And also sweat a lot...and before, forgetting to apply deodorant before a run would bring about awful, smelly consequences. Now, the weirdest thing seems to happen - I DON'T SMELL (or if the sweat ever does smell, it is much much milder) So pleasant side effect #1 i guess :)

Congratulations on your first smoothie. Experiment with them. My fav is spinach, banana, green apple, avocado(can't stand them by themselves-the green apple really kills the taste) Bananas make them creamy.:)

My favorite combination has been just strawberries and spinach. Looks awful, tastes really nice. The key is sweet, ultra-fresh, baby greens. I cannot take a strong "green" flavor! Keep experimenting!

Your food sounds just great. And congrats on the 6mi run!
