Days 56 & 57 ~

On 6/12/08 - Our city had some severe flooding. This is what it looked like outside my house that night. This all happened very suddenly - within about 1 1/2 hours.

Many people around town had their basments flooded out & driving around the last couple days you can see what they've lost out on the curbside....

We've never seen flooding like this EVER! Most homes probably do not have flood insurance either.

I was one of the lucky ones because I do not have a basement & the water managed to stay 2-3 inches from entering my back door.

I just walked out back & my yard is still flooded back there.

I wanted to share some pictures of the event as it unfolded.

This is my neighbor's red truck - he couldn't find his wife & was driving around her route home - he did end up picking her up & they made it home saftely.



This one is my neighbor's canoeing down my street....



This is how my street looked the very next morning....

    Oh, Monk, that is so incredibly scary! Thank goodness you are okay! We had flooding like that here in 1998 and I was stranded for a few days, b/c the hill I lived on was surrounded by water. Thanks for the pictures! I hope the rain stops now for awhile.

    Thank you Pilgrim~It was kind of scary, but by the next day everything was back to normal. That had to be scary being stranded! Have a great night~
