So... 23 days on this journey. I had a cranky kind of a day yesterday and I didn't accomplish much. Tried a few new food items...not successful.
I think my success will be staying as simple as possible, finding a few things I like and can eat again and again. I would be happy with eating fruit all morning, but I get hungry so fast. So I'm going to keep working with green smoothies. Salads alone won't fill me up for long. Oh well...I'll keep experimenting as long as it takes.
My skin is very soft. I have lost (okay, released!) 17 lbs, much of that is water and bloat, I know, but it's still fantastic. This time, I'm not going to gain it all back and thensome.
This is a lifetime commitment. I know I will have some backsliding moments--my DB will be visiting soon and he is a "meat, meat, meat, eat, eat, eat" kind of person. I love him but I'm dreading the visit b/c he is so enormously fat that all he can do is sit. So I wind up cooking for him or driving him to restaurants, and that's about the extent of the visit. I will do my best to eat raw, but he is very strong-willed and monitors what I eat (to validate his own eating) and I know I won't be able to not eat some cooked food (not this early in my raw life--but maybe after I've been raw a year I will have the strength to resist).
But I will worry about that when it gets closer. Meanwhile, each day is a tiny step forward on my journey to great health.
