Three weeks raw

Rate this Entry
Yesterday I donated the last of my canned items to the local food pantry.

The apple essene bread I made wasn't that good. I put honey and some sunflower sprouts on it, and it was an okay meal, but that's all. Last night I made "garlic toast" and we'll see tonight how it comes out. I made more fruit leather, too, and I got set up for more uncooking today.

I ran out of food last night. Nothing appealed to me. So I need to come up with more ideas, things that I'm willing to eat.

I know my tastes are changing b/c I can look at cooked food and not feel tempted. Whether I can resist it when I'm out with family and friends or when people push it at me--that's another story. Meanwhile, I'm building my raw muscles and retraining my taste buds.

How seductive our old habits are, though. I was driving to the store this morning and caught myself craving a diet Pepsi, which used to be my morning drink. I never had more than one a day, but it's still something that I no longer want in my body at all.

Today I have more recipes to try. I think I'll have to get a 9-tray dehydrator at the rate I'm going.

Congrats on 3 weeks! That's awesome that you donated the rest of your food - it really shows commitment. Garlic toast! - You will defenitely have to share if you like it. I love my 9 tray dehydrator....my bf requested another batch of rawritos....after he finished off the last of mine! Keep up the good work~

I think I'll try rawritos with frozen corn--I know technically it's not totally raw that way, but I'm not thrilled with the taste of dehydrated corn off the cob. The garlic toast is turning out pretty good, and right now I'm making peach cobbler!

My shoulder doesn't hurt so much today. It feels looser. Hooray!

Ooooh, peach cobbler....drools.....yes, please keep us posted on the turn out of your garlic bread! I'm glad your shoulder is doing better - a "Hooray" is surely in order!

Congratulations! Three weeks is major milestone in a raw journey. More and more good changes are coming. Stay strong! Maybe put something special in the dehydrator for dinner Monday, might help keep your resolve up through the luncheon with your secretary. Not that your going to have any problem, but a little extra something to look forward to couldn't hurt. Wishing you the best possible week ahead!

Buy an Excalibur, you won't regret it. I know what you mean about cravings!! I went through a rough time the first week. A couple of good un-cookbooks are:

Raw for One or Two by Jennifer Cornbleet (great walnut pate)
Living Cuisine by Renee Underkoffler (excellent spinach soup)
The Rainbow Cafe by Gabriel Cousens (excellent lasagna)

I can send the recipes, if you're interested and don't want to purchase the books!
