well really I should be thanking you because you got me thinking enough to actually verbalise (in type at least) what I was thinking.

    Thank you

My knee-jerk response is to agree with you that it is crazy to ask if it's ok to eat a whole avocado when previously a whole box of chocolates would have been consumed without referral to the chocolate police; let's face it they always knew it wasn't a healthy option.

When I try to look at it from another perspective though I can see that you have a bunch of people who have become consciously aware of their excesses and are looking to a new way of eating and are either just at sea with all this new-to-them food or their question isn't complete - for example "can I eat a whole avocado a day ... and still lose weight".

When people are thrown into a new arena where all their old habits are being challenged and they want to learn new habits that are in line with good health they just don't know if a whole avocado is good, bad or sky-blue-pink.

When I look at it this way I feel a lot less aghast at the question.

You're welcome. Yeah, that might work. Skin exposing would basically just be midriff. I'm sure your bf would like that. lol

Are you on FaceBook? I've got my Fitness Journey on there and lots of links to hoopers which may or may not assist. I'm also putting up my pics there and inspirational hooping vids that I find. The link is at the very top of the this post... 30/30. If you're not on FB, no worries.

Thank you :) You are a great support in this. I am thinking the stuff they use on cricket bat handles (baseball maybe in the US) would be grippy. I'm not sure I am ready for skin exposing although my bf did make the comment that it would help ;)

I shall look forward to the piccies

Sanding the inside or, find a place that has "grip tape"... I use gaffer's tape on my hoops which helps them grip. Also, I've been told, if you expose skin, it'll grip better.

I was REALLY bad at it when I began. I took a 6-week class and by the end of the class all I could do was waist spin. Kept at it it until I could do 300+ rotations w/out stopping.

Addiction in this = good! :)

Someone's coming over this evening to hoop with me. I'll have her take some pics of me with my hoops.

well I have a hoop ... it's about 42" across and I am pretty rubbish at it tbh. Most of that is down to the lack of practice over the past 35 years but I did wonder if I added sand to the inside whether that would help and also if I wrap the piping that I have used to make the hoop with something grippy, would the increase in friction against my body help?

I can already tell that I may become addicted. Thanks Revv :)

Yeah, for me too. I posted new (REALLY never used) and nearly new stuff and 2 of them posted with 3 stars ~ one saying it wasn't new (I had 6 of them and was selling all the new ones) and that brought my number down to below 90. Sales ended. All the people who were happy didn't say a word! Ah well. Don't know if I go back on if the same rating/buyers will still be on there.

I sold on amazon a lot for a while but a rash of dishonest buyers took the fun out of it.

    I may start up again.
  10. Revvell's Avatar
Yeah, I've never done that either. I'm even loathe to share. Git your own! (my love)

I put many up on Amazon. Don't know if you can do that yet, I've gotten quite a bit of $$$ from doing that. Still have stacks to eliminate. Many may end up at the library.

I don't think I have ever eaten one or two berries at a time ... one or two punnets is more like it!

I'm building up to rehoming a lot of books. Maybe 200-400 of them if I can find homes for that many.

Maybe I'll have a yard sale and use the proceeds to buy berries :)

Ohhh, there's much more to it now than when we were kids! So much more fun! Waist, hip, thigh, chest and shoulder hooping; floating; jumps; halos, passing, corkscrews, etc. Just go to YouTube and put in "hooping", "hoopdancing", etc.

yes I am on facebook. I'll look up hooping in the UK. I wonder if I can still do it? I'll soon remember I expect :)

You're welcome. Are you on Facebook at all? I'm on a few hooping groups and pages there. Maybe someone there can tell you where to get them. I know Hoopnotica here ships to the UK but have NO idea of the cost.

I loved hoops when I was a kid and hooped for hours! I'm going to look into sourcing an adult sized one in the UK.
    Thanks for your post.

Absolutely! Go to the site; register (all free), then go to "Members" at the top. Scroll down to "Groups" and click on that. There's only one group now and that's it! See you there.
