A Little of This; A Little of That

The a.m.'s here are really rough because the marine layer presses the smoke down to the ground. The house still smells like a chimney and we really can't go outside. Inside is very bad air even with fans and a/c.

My throat is hurting again. We were thinking of going back up to Big Bear but are hearing the smoke is traveling up there as well ~ from the Yucaipa fire.

Over 121,000 acres burned near us and the forecast is predicting rain which is a good and a bad thing. Bad ...

As I said in my last post, we're at the beach. Had to get out as the smoke was so thick, we couldn't get away from it even in the house, all windows closed and the a/c on.

Out landlady called to see how we were. Seems she's out because of the fire in Hemet and now, she can't go back because of the Yucaipa fire. They went to Las Vegas to get away yet, LV is getting our smokey air and it doesn't move. It just settles in that valley. She was sounding really bad.

We woke up to severe smoke. Nowhere in the house was better than any other so we evacuated. The marine layer and the fact there's no wind just kept it sitting close to the ground.

My throat is SO sore and my head was hurting so, either we both get out together or I'm off to Big Bear. He felt to go as well wo, we headed south to Long Beach where we are now.

I'm hoping to stay the night. Feels good to breathe ocean air rather than smoke. Haven't taken a deep breath since ...

Woke up this morning and even with the fans on, our house is full of smoke. Sometimes it's worse inside than out but not the case this time. I opened the door hoping I could get out and walk ~ Not going to happen.

Can see the flames from here ~ seem to have quelled since last night. Guess the wind sent the smoke this way.

I've got a mild headache, sore throat, eyes are watery. Down in my sunroom again. Drinking a lot of fluids, eating a lot of greens...

I thought the threat was over. Seems the fire is still out of control. Mandatory evacs are from above Alta Loma to west of Lake. We are below Alta Loma ~ west of Lake.

I was kicking back, the then house started stinking of lighter fluid. Looked out, the whole ridge is still aflame.

My understanding is, at this time, only two homes burned and cabins (some are homes) in the Big Tujunga area burned ~ a lot of them.

I'm hoping now the fire on the other side ...
