I can't wait to get back to that place - I was there 2 summers ago. I'm glad to hear you sounding so at peace with yourself.

yeah for you islesgirl... a green smoothie must be what your body needed.

I am one who appears and disappears but I am still trying. Yesterday I thought I'd fast for a while - that didn't last at all. No matter. I did really well with mostly green smoothies today.

I'm not sure that everyone who disappears from here has given up on raw foods. I find my own pattern here goes in waves. I post less often than I just lurk and read. It is a time thing for me. I can sucked into this computer for days (or would that be daze?) at a time if I'm not careful!

I can't imagine living raw in an area that gets snow for any length of time. My hat is off to you!!!!!

I SO MUCH do not want to be one of those statistics, the ones who do great on raw, lose lots of weight, then drop off the planet and gain it all back. I went off raw for a month and gained 9 pounds. I have lost half of it right away, so no biggie, but it scared me. yes, eating this way is hard, but isn't the alternative, being ill and fat, harder? BTW we have snow here too. We had a blizzard yesterday and my husband is snowed in 90 miles away. We were without power for 4 hours yesterday while the storm howled. I was greatly tempted to eat something hot and comforting once my stove worked again, but I settled for hot tea.

you know RK, you are so right about the value of persistence. for the past five years my raw food path has had it's ups and downs, but for certain... the food has been amazing. and, for sure i am "tried and true."

i just know how important it is for me to be active here right now.

SNOW !!! lodestar, you have been around here longer than almost everybody. Imagine how it might have been without all the wonderful raw food you have enjoyed over the past 5 years! Not being 100% all the time doesn't make you any less of a tried and true rawbiestar. :) You are one the shiniest.

    Snowy day? Really?

I think you are right that people drop off when they are not eating raw. I know I come here less often when I am not eating as well as I should. I also perused the members list one time, and noticed how many people had zero, one, or two entries--I think a lot of people sign up with only passing interest.

this idea is so long in coming. why don't politicians address this topic? it reminds me of something Henry David Thoreau said, "For every thousand hacking at the leaves of evil, there is one striking at the root." – Henry David Thoreau.

Thought this quote might be of interest!

The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest her or his patients in the care of the human frame, in a proper diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease. Thomas A. Edison
