    Finishing comment from above...

After a while, I would have a splurge here and there...toast with coffee when eating breakfast out with friends. A soup and salad when I had a salad with lunch. And pretty soon I was back to being high raw, healthy and fat.

So, I have tried and tried to eat 100% raw again. Since 2008 I started to gain my weight back until now...I'm heavier than I ever was to start with.

Eating high raw...isn't going to accomplish the goal for me. But I'm unhappy with the thought that if I can't maintain 100% it is simply going to come back with a vengeance and I will be right here again. Fat, struggling and sad.

I'm a go-getter...I accomplish and complete the task. I can't seem to accomplish my goal of 100% raw. Instead of keeping on in this vein of feeling defeated, I am in pursuit of something I can live with always. Raw doesn't seem to be that for me. I can eat 100% raw for three days, lose 5 pounds and gain half back after one day with a cooked meal. It isn't sustainable for me.

That is what I have come to. I can't sustain 100% long term and so no matter what my progress, I will simply fail the minute I consume a cooked item and the weight comes back. It is too discouraging.

Thank you for letting me explain and ramble.

    God bless you Renee! (((HUGS)))

How can the smokehouse be a favourite place when both of you are miserable when you go there? If you really want to eat raw then you'll find a way to make it happen. Maybe raw isn't really what you want most?

My dear ShelShel... Why does it HAVE to be all or nothing? Why do you prefer to struggle alone? We all have our moments. This should be a place for support, not a 100% raw or else club. You don't have to be 100% raw to be here.

I hope you'll come back after you've thought about it for a while. Through supporting others you receive support!

If not, I wish you well in your journey. :-)

I fixed my post above, so I am editing this comment to respond to Renee.

I read the post Renee. :) (((HUGS)))

I think for me if I'm eating high raw...I'm just eating healthy. This is what I have done my whole life. I'm a good food eater. You can ask my hubby...I do not care for unhealthy foods. Snack garbage and such. But.
It never helps me lose the extra weight. I can exercise and exercise and count calories...eat whole foods and nothing. I'm healthy and fat.

Eating 100% raw...is eating raw to me. I'm at my best. Clear skin, clear mind, happy spirit and THIN! I have been there. I did it. It worked....then...we began to socialize with our friends from church, got on the worship team...lots of potlucks...where I happily brought my raw treats and was explaining at every turn.

Commenting below because this is getting long. ;)

Bananna, I think your idea to start with the goal of thirty days is a great one. Yes, I am always good when I get over the fourteen day mark. Good job!

Mystic tree, let me say for the record, my hubby is not the problem. He is so supportive. He told me to right out and by a vitamix, dehydrator and food processor so I would have what I need to be successful.

When I say he doesn't enjoy a meal if I'm eating raw. That is to say he can't have fun when my fun is limited. It is so much fun to share a meal saying things like, oh this is so good, want a bite? As opposed to yummy another salad. While he's eating a steak and potatoes.

It is different when we go out to simple places a salad is fine. But one of our fav places is a smokehouse restaurant. It is a little pointless to go out to a restaurant like that and have a side salad.

It is torture for me. He knows it and can't enjoy himself. I feel bad because I want to just eat and be merry. I love going out to eat. He knows me. He knows how difficult not eating what I want is.

That is all I meant be he can't enjoy himself when I am not also. He's wonderful. And nothing if not supportive. ;)

there is so much to discuss within this one blog thread but the thing that jumps out at me is the comment that shel's husband doesn't enjoy a meal when shel eats raw. There is so much in this one situation that begs further analysis. Is it possible to do some talking through of this point between you?

ok...been thinking. I think whatever the regimen, doing it for 30 days is going to make a huge difference. I can do anything for 30 days, lol. ...I just need to map out exactly what it is I am doing. The rawtarian's thing starts on monday, so I will start then...maybe not all raw, but maybe actually...maybe just one cheat meal a week or something, I dunno. But I think I need to make a 30 day commitment to break me out of this mold of circular spinning I am doing.
I need to get my health back...I have this pain in my armpit...it comes and goes...it's a cyst they tell me, but it's been a lot worse lately and has me a bit concerned and I'm actually afraid to go get it checked in case it's cancer. Which I know, makes no sense really at all, lol. Cystic breasts rarely turn into a cancerous situation, so it is most likely just being irritated. But either way/or, I need to eat better because it doesn't hurt or be problematic when I eat right.

Howse it going on your end?

That is why I was considering bumping it up and getting the nicer tools. That it might somehow make it easier or more fun. More food options. More comfortable and less restrictive. Hummmmmmm. Lots of thoughts. :)

Bananna, you and I have been two peas in the pod since the beginning. I am experiencing the exact same thing. :O crazy isn't it!?!?!?!

The problem for me is that when left alone I eat raw. When others are here I do not. I am unwilling to give up these precious moments shared with family and friends.

Just last night my hubby (completely unplanned) got off work and too me to one of our favorite restaurants. It was divine. I missed him and while others would say wet a salad, (which was my appetizer) it ruins the meal for him if that is all I eat. (and at this place my salad was the only raw option.).

I find I'm coming to this. I try to make healthy raw choices as often as I can. Exercise as often as I can. I feel great in my spirit for the good I'm doing and having balance, but... And here is why I keep trying to throw all that off... Without 100% I don't lose any of this extra weight. THAT is my struggle.

I could be very balanced and happy mind you at 60-70% raw weekends, 90% raw weekdays, but I will remain overweight. So I struggle.

I have no advice. Obviously. ;). But I'm right there with you. I struggle.

    You are not alone. (((hugs)))

    Hi Shelshel!
Sorry I have been super busy the last couple of days!
I have been doing a lot of thinking and I would really like to be 'all raw'. ...mainly because I feel like a food addict and I think this would set a boundary up between me and being ridiculous, lol.

But then at some point I worry that it isn't practical and around and around I go. I need some friggin clarity.

    I either need to:

    a) Find a way to not be a food addict while still incorporating non-raw food.
    or
    b) Feel like raw is a practical thing for me to do.

...lately I have been leaning towards going raw, but I still feel like some very thoughtful cooked additions might be good. A baked sweet potato, some goat cheese in a restaurant, the odd boiled egg in my salad, some hummus sometimes, or some beans. I dunno.

I REALLY want to do raw though...I loved when I was all raw how easy my decision-making tree was...lol. Raw this, or raw that, always full of flavour, forced me to be creative and get good in the kitchen, the adventure of it and the abounding health and energy and weight loss....and how when you do anything for awhile, you crave it and can't imagine it any other way. I literally MISS it.

    Thoughts?

    (((hugs))) for all! yay!

Yes, I too am going to have a large salad for lunch today. With raw honey mustard dressing. Yummmmmmmmmm.

Now that I have said that, I must go make that dressing. We are going to Pizza Hut to celebrate my Father-in-laws birthday and I intend to be happy with my raw self after leaving the restaurant. :)

    !!!!!!!!
Isn't it amazing how one piece of tasty raw food gives you so much incentive to do more! ...it's almost like walking the walk and the talk part just follows right behind!

I think it's a good idea for us all to share a bit more of even our small successes on here, I find it hugely inspirational also!

...ok, so today I am REALLY going to make a salad. I bought all the stuff and if I don't it will go bad as it's been a few days already. Brunch meal was not raw but my supper will be at least a huge salad!

I have dreams of getting a Vitamix too Shelshel...I use the oven propped open for a D, so the Vitamix would be my first choice too...although a proper D also would be next!

Get one with the 'cone of silence' ...not sure if you've ever watched Get Smart back in the day, but you see that smoothie bars and that have a cone of silence on their machines and it makes a huge difference in the noise level. That said, I tried to price on as I couldn't find it and they said they only sell them to restaurants. ...but redirected me to amazon as there are many sellers that carry ones that fit Vitamixes. ...but if they've changed their policy and sell them to the general public, I would go with a model that works with that, or works with one of the amazon sellers.

I'm hoping to slowly start getting back to more raw....I miss how good it used to feel!

I'm glad to see you're still here!
