Yes...you remind me of how I use to think of eating fruit as damn near making love! lol.

I concur! I think my next project will be to Simply expand my favorite recipe collection so I have enough of them that are easy that I will never get bored of it. ...Easy being key, lol.

    Jicama wraps?

Good thing you were able to get right back on track after a day of SAD! And that menu sounds AMAZING !

I know what you mean and even the process of cleaning the juicer seems good. Part of the whole process although I do wish I had a masticating juicer rather than the centrifugal one I have.

That sounds like a wonderful recognition of what your body is telling you. And all the more power to you for seeking out your own special "balance"!

Speaking to what MysticTree said, in terms of not feeling like you're denying yourself something...I have found that it helps me to think of what I'm giving myself, rather than what I'm taking away from myself. It's like this: if you start from nothing (ie, just water), then think of all the wonderful things you're adding into your diet from there!

Just a thought--it sounds like you're talking about steaming up some lighter veggies, but be careful about eating fruit after eating other food groups. Optimal food combining means having fruit first and at least 30 minutes before eating non-fruit foods. Maybe you already know this, ShelShel, but I just want to put this out there for anyone else reading, too!

Have you considered your depression seasonal? I use a SAD lite in the morning October to March and have not had to take antidepressants since I started this. I found I was going on them every fall and be able to go off them every spring. Glad my doctor suggested it.

I just joined this forum, and yours was the first blog I've read. Thank you for being so open. I really appreciate how you claim everything and are able to express what you want and need for yourself. That is my truest intention in this, providing myself with the purest of everything to live in Love, light and truth. I am fully committed to my journey and finding what is the most healthy and sustainable for myself as well.

I'm sick of feeling guilty the next day after eating
I think you have discovered a very valid truth. Many people switch to raw because they have a mind-set that says they should be denying themselves something.

    When you can honestly say that you can eat pretty much anything without feeling guilt then I think you would be able to choose raw over anything else. Hey! But it's not easy ... I know but congratulations on finding out a little more about you {hugs}

I know that feeling. I hope you got some rest. I seem to be having a little brain fog. I'm on day 3 of raw food and am wondering if I'm not detoxing a little ???

It's almost like if you acknowledge that part of yourself, the why you are you...that it has less power...not even that you need to change it, just recognize it, look at it, ...and that in itself causes it to loosen it's grip on you.

    Bananna, Thank you.
It is very difficult to put into words. I love what I do at work. The job itself. However, there are some people who make it uncomfortable by their actions and responses. And as we all know, we can't control others only ourselves.
I've been trying to do that last line for years now. Which I believe is part of my raw journey and words of amazing wisdom. If I could understand why I respond the way I do, I could correct certain behaviors and live life happier, fuller, less stressed.
    Thanks for sharing. (((HUGS)))

It's never that easy and I would never tell you to just quit your job! ...but I understand that reflex to think that. ...I am very keenly aware that my stress levels are tied to my habits...it is more a Long term goal to do something about it....just basically, I refuse to spend lots of money on housing or vehicles (although easy for me to say cuz hubby is way handy)...school is So stressful and I think I've gained 50 pounds from it. Sucks...but am almost done and hope to find a job that isn't stressful, even if it is low pay. I am foregoing more schooling for now just because like you said...to have the evenings with my kids and not books would be really nice.

...I am not sure how to answer this for you...sheesh not even for me either, but I think maybe just recognizing the link between the two will get you thinking about it a bit more and gain some clarity both in terms of how to deal with those external factors but also your response system and why particular things stress You out when they may not for everyone. ...in essense, get to know yourself better and solutions may come from that too? ♥♥♥

Yes, ReneeH, I know you are right.

Bananna, boy, I wish it weren't so for me, but alas, it is.

I find my eating is very tied to stress levels too. I'm opting to make my life as stress-free as possible...although it is rather stressful trying to accomplish this, lol.

(((HUGS))) If you want to, just make today more Raw than yesterday. Decide right now what you're gonna eat for what meal. I find that when I make up my mind to have something and stick with it, I feel better about my choices the next day. :)
