Fabulous!!!! Welcome back!!! Yea, just do what you can, there are no Raw Police out there! :) You have to do what works for you with what you got. It's o.k. to set a mark...strive to be as close to 100% as you personally can, but don't beat yourself up if you call short of that. We are all imperfect and this is a journey we are all on.

So, be kind to yourself. Enjoy your fruits and veggies and tell yourself how wonderful you feel when you eat them! When you make RAW choices, go to the mirror and say out loud... "I'm SO PROUD of me!!!! You made a great choice!!! YOU *GO* GURL!!!" :)

I couldn't help but notice, I have the same problems - try eating MORE! You have to remember to consume more calories when you're eating raw food. It's a bit of an extra effort but for most people that's good news :) Notice your energy spikes are immediately after you eat... you're burning right through the good food instead of storing it, so I would at least give it a shot. I wish you the best.

I agree with these posting but there should be a proper consumption of raw food else it leads to bad effect on body.

LOL Thanks Mystic i just wanted to be somewhat respectful!

Steven- Animal cruelty on mass marketed animals does suck. I support my local farmers. I'm in farmland ohio lots of grass and lots of happy farm animals here! lol I just bless each soul that's giving me nourishment. I could never eat only fruit all day again after research and experiencing what it did to my body. To each their own :)

Well even if it is meat, the book above is still reccomended as it covers both and the effects on the human body.

I could never eat meat again after researching and also watching movies like Earthlings on animal cruelty...

I think "m" is meat not milk ...

It's ok to say on your blog Dani.

    Good luck and happy eating.

If "m" is milk... I highly reccomend you get and read The China Study... Largest and longest study ever done on human nutrition...

I know i know! lol But some people only use the 1000 of years argument and i'm being technical pain in the butt by saying only 1000 of years ago my ancestors were still in africa clearly before slavery lol But yes if we're talking about 10,000 years ago which some people are then yes i agree with them and they make sense

I feel a bit icky after sprouted chick peas and lentils can be a bit much sometimes too.

I hope you feel more settled today. Yay for it being Friday :)

I think you can moderate your own blog too Dani so that spam should be deletable by you. Not quite sure how it works though.

On a more relevant note, I think raw food does attract extremists ... just as veganism does. Some people just like to be extreme! I like to feel good and raw makes me feel like it's worth getting up in the morning but maybe sad food is more comforting. I hope to reach a stage where I don't need comforting and thus I don't need cooked, non-vegan foods.

maybe if I had been brought up raw and cooked food was found to be healthier I'd feel the opposite!

Thanks ladies for your comments and supports! Nad thanks so much for the quote!! I was even reading one of Ani's books where she stated why nuts and seeds are so important. I think it's just too much he said she said going on and too many extremist trying to pull you one way or the other. I love raw foods cause i love the versatility i love being able to make dishes since i loved being able to cook and bake when i wasn't raw and now there's a whole new window of opportunity and i'm limiting myself from something i find fun out of fear. I'm just going to keep trucking along eating whatever i feel like eating within reason of course. I shouldn't have to think this hard about what i eat since i never had to before.

Dani I can totally relate to this! It does get overwhelming sometimes, I know it sounds weird but I don't think I've ever thought about what I eat this much before. But I'm hoping it's all to do with transitioning and getting your footing. Even though I've been raw for a while now I still feel like I'm learning, especially as I'm still experimenting with all the different foods etc.

I was also really wary about fats (nuts and oils mainly) because I went raw right after being on a somewhat restricted diet as I was trying to lose weight, and I was just used to not having very many fats anymore, but I realized that was stupid because the kind of fats that make you put on weight are the ones found in cooked and processed foods (not to say that we should all go crazy with avos and down a cup of olive oil every day haha), but healthy raw fats are so vital in a raw food diet, here's a good quote from Alissa's website that I love:

Raw fats such as avocados, olives, coconuts, nuts and seeds are imperative in a healthy diet. These fats contain antioxidants. They contain oils that help the joints, nerves and bones.
These raw plant fats do not cause the body to gain excess weight because they still contain the enzyme lipase; this is the enzyme that is needed to digest fat. Cooking fats destroy lipase; along with other important enzymes and minerals. The fat digesting enzyme, lipase, breaks up the raw plant foods as they are eaten and help to digest the oils in these foods. Because this food is getting assimilated and digested properly, it is not clogging up the blood and arteries, causing all kinds of chronic and degenerative diseases. It is not getting stored as excess weight in the body. You will not get fat by eating avocados, sprouted nuts and seeds and other plant fats. When starting this diet, many people eat 2-3 avocados a day and lose weight. Even people without a lot of weight to lose, will find that the few extra pounds they have will just melt off because they are eating fats in their whole natural form with all of their enzymes intact.
But anyways, point is try not to freak out/obsess too much. Just eat what you feel like, when you feel like it, and try to have a good balance of everything. Remember that even on your worst days raw, you're still eating live and nutritiously dense foods that most people barely get enough of every day. I also think once the 30 day challenge is over it'll be easier for you to adjust and find your balance.

The doctor told her it was ok basically because she's getting old!!! I told her no it's not ok! Age doesn't mean you have to suffer health problems..ugh I'm disliking the health care system more and more.
My mom says her doctor said this also! That her weight is acceptable "for her age". What the hell!? It really pisses me off. Correct me if I'm wrong but age does NOT factor in when you calculate someone's BMI. What a bunch of BS.

But anyways well done you for putting in such an effort! I know it's tough - my mom has been difficult at times too but once I explained the whole "it's not about being 100% raw" I think that took the pressure off a little, and surprisingly since we had that discussion she's been eating mostly raw for over a week now (she still can't give up bread ). I really want to put together an info pack on raw and print it out to give to her, I think that would help explain things a lot rather than just give her the intro of one one of my cookbooks to read. I don't have Alissa's book either which I'm thinking I should maybe get as it might be good reading material for her, plus I'm intrigued because everyone keeps talking about it!

It is right that raw food is really very helpful to keep away all the diseases, but can anyone tell the diet that what quantity should be consumed?
