Remember... you can take it on your skin as well! Your hair will love it too.

You can also use the pulp as a facial!!!

So don't worry about not using it. Use it externally as well. Your body absorbs the goodness

Oh wow thanks for the quick response. I asked this same question on the fasting forum because I was not sure if you would check back here and also I thought others might benefit from your answer.

Indeed orange juice is the easiest to find when I go out, especially in the rural region I live in. In December I will be moving to Brazil for half of a year. I am looking forward to getting there because fresh juices are very common and plentiful in public places.

I still drink citrus but I don't like to drink too much. It's the only juice I can get locally if we go out. I have 8floz which I dilute a bit with either ice cubes or water. At work I have the juice if maybe 1 or 2 citrus fruits in a 20 floz volume of juice.

Yes I will be slowing down on the wheat grass. But of course I have a large supply of it which will need to be used. Next time I think I will try .5 ounces.

Mystic Tree you say that you try to stay away from citrus? Does this include lemons juice diluted in water?

Thank you Aleesha and Mystic Tree from your Support

Wheat grass can be quite nauseating! I also find that citrus can cause headaches. You are doing well. Your body is going through quite a new experience. The less than pleasant side effects will pass.

Thank you Mystic Tree and Aleesha for the support. On day 3 I gave up coffee. Some of my headaches earlier in the day I think were related to this. Luckily, this was much easier than I thought, perhaps this is because I usually just drink 1 cup of coffee during the weekdays and on the weekend I don’t drink any at all. Regardless I am glad to be over the caffeine hump. Yes…Cookie Monster says Caffeine is bad.

You can give up caffeine if you put your mind to it. I gave it up 1.5 years ago and it was the best thing I ever did - possibly even better than going raw. Going raw is very good too but 6 litres of diet coke was very bad - for me, the planet and those around me. Just put your best foot forward, be ready for the headache and ride it out. You are stronger than a small bean :)

    Hello Mystic Tree,

Thank you for the friendly welcome to blogging.

I appreciate your concerns especially regarding the coffee. However, I am not planning on sticking to the coffee I am just transitioning off of it for the first few days which is a big reason why I am still on smoothies. I know that drinking coffee while on a fast can be dangerous.

Last night I actually did not end up doing a smoothie, that was just a tentative plan just in case if I found my self in a crunch unable to sleep because of hunger. Instead I compromised and made some orange juice.

The smoothies are also transitional for me and I am trying to use up some things that can not be juiced such as bananas.

I have been doing a lot of research on fasting, including reading several books, reviewing several scientific articles and checking out the forums.

Yes I am doing a light fast. This is my first fast so I am going easy on myself. I imagine that as the fast progresses I may even cut out juice for a few days and do strictly water. However, for now, allowing myself a few smoothies I do not think is such a bad thing. Especially because when I do my next grocery run I will only be buying juicing materials, not smoothie materials.

I recognize that this may not be what you consider fasting, especially because you are experienced. However, fasting has many definitions. The most common definition is just simply the voluntary abstinence from all or some kinds of food or drink for varying lengths of time. Some medical dictionaries even consider fasting 600 calories or less.

In my eyes I am fasting. Perhaps as I become more experienced my definition of fast will change. Maybe I should say that I am doing a cleansing, does that sound better to you?

Thank you for your comments and your concerns, and good luck on your water fast. Now that takes real dedication and I find that very admirable!

    Best Wishes,
    Crystal
