  1. Been a while

One of the reasons my last attempt at 100% raw failed was that I lacked essential equipment and quickly grew bored. I love food. I love weird combinations of food. Apparently it's not enough to just have an Oster blender.

This time, I've upped the ante. Now, I've been eating at least 50% raw since that first attempt, so it's not too much of a shocker. I now have a food processor and a Vitamix blender and will probably have a dehydrator come March.

    So far, so good. ...

  2. I need to find ways to STAY raw

March has been a month of ups and downs. I've stayed vegetarian with the exception of a few fish meals, and have even had 100% or 75% raw days... a bunch of them. But I haven't been consistent and I'm finding it difficult.

I have a lot of pasta/grains packages in my pantry that I've accumulated over a long time. I think I'm going to put them up out of reach in my cabinets so that they aren't an immediate option.

So I've got to formulate some strategies for staying ...

  3. Been back on the bandwagon

...for almost a week now. I'm down to 148. My boyfriend says I look fabulous-- healthy, vibrant and thinner all over. I've lost about 14 lbs since I came back from my sister's wedding in early January-- 8 of those on raw. I'm so pleased with myself!

Additionally, a lot of the other symptoms have cleared up: eye encrustrations, the sleepiness, feeling lousy. Even my cold is starting to subside. Heck yes.

Recently, my favorite main dish has been guacamole with cayenne ...

  4. Fell off the bandwagon

    Hard!

It's that time of the month and after only 11 days raw I gave into a post-brunch waiting shift meal at the restaurant. If I'd eaten a more sensible breakfast it wouldn't have happened but I was famished. It tasted about as good as I thought it would-- steak nachos, biscuits and sausage gravy, bacon, guacamole... god it was heaven for 20 minutes. Then later that evening I felt like I was going to puke. I spiked a small fever and went straight to bed. To be fair it was a triple ...

  5. Juicer AND spaghetti!

So my friend Wes, an executive chef at a schwank restaurant here in St. Lou gave me their juicer. He said he doesn't use it anymore and was happy to unload it.

That done, I instantly juiced a granny smith apple and downed the most delicious apple juice in the world. Then I mixed 1 blood orange, 1 lemon, 2 kale leaves and a handful of spinach and a small splash of agave for sweetness for my first green juice! It was so incredible. Yummm.

For dinner tonight I improvised ...
