Hey Pilgrim~I'm so happy that your knee is doing better. We have people that buy apricot kernals at the store I work at - for the very same reason - they told me they tasted very bitter - interesting yours tastes like almonds. Hope you have a great weekend & your kitties stay burr free!~monk~

No physical therapy. I had to do 100 leg lifts a day at first to strengthen the glutes. You can get really good raw oats from Alissa on this site, but I think the ones from the store are steamed.

I didn't know that about apricot kernels - very interesting, thanks! Emma-Liza, I was craving oatmeal this morning! How do you know if the oats are raw or not? If you buy the steel cut oatmeal at the store, does it need to specifically say it's raw? Or is it all raw? (I'm guessing not...just wishful thinking)

Emma-Liza, I haven't had breakfast yet! Your making me very hungry. Pilgrim, you are making excellent progress just doing without the cane. Are you still doing physical therapy or are you on your own with that?

Emma gave you some really great and tasty warm suggestions...........yummmmmmmmm! Yea, we can have warm food if it's not cooked beyond 118 degrees. You are doing so good and with walking. I had a friend who had knee surgery and did not recover as quickly as you have so, I think you are doing great.

Pilgrim, you are doing so well at staying focused and present! You could be wallowing, but you are trying new things and looking forward. I really commend you for that! As to a cold breakfast, you could probably "heat" something in the oven or D if you have one. Soaked, slightly warmed dried fruit comes to mind--prunes, apricots, pears, peaches. Bananas might be really good warm with some pecans on top, or maybe a little almond butter and cinnamon. If you decide to get some raw oats, you could warm oatmeal and almond milk! I'm glad you are getting me to think about this now!

I'm also trying to figure that out. I've got a few theories about overeating, all the obvious reasons, body needing nutrients, boredom, etc. Willpower - determination, self-control. We have more of that than we realize, or we wouldn't even be here. You've made some seriouse progress! More good milestones ahead. :)

I am reading "Rainbow Green Live-food Cuisine" and having a profound experience of knowledge from it.

Or maybe both. If I could stop stuffing my stomach long enough to figure it out, I might get a handle on this grazing habit.

Yeah, Pilgrim! I'm so happy for you..............electricity is a wonderful thing! :)

I have a tendency for binging but, I really am thinking it is more about either my emotional state and/or my lack of akaline state.

Hi Pilgrim~I'm sorry to hear you were without power! I haven't had a chance to read the blogs this week again - I'm just reading the most recent ones now, but I will go back and catch up. I hope your power is back on now!~monk~

Yeah, I wonder about those apples, but they are good! I'm going to continue with simple raw for awhile and hope I don't get bored...

Simple! How wonderful. Hardship of any kind always seems to teach us something. Having the power off (when it's not to cold out), can be peaceful, but it's always a relief when it comes back. I've noticed the apples I pick (from my neighbor's tree) feel waxy, but it doesn't peel or flake off like the wax on store bought apples. If organic apples are waxed, it must be beeswax? Curious...

Glad to hear you have your power back! Keep us posted on how eating simply goes.

I'm glad you are able to post, anyway! It's good to keep up with what's going on with you. I really understand the frustration. Often when our power goes out, the people across the street still have theirs. We're on different circuits or something (Mr.Liza is an electrical engineer and he has explained this to me, but that doesn't mean I retain much!). I just hate seeing those lights on after awhile. Grrr. Well, you have a much more mature response! I hope yours comes back asap! I am visualizing it for you!

My neighbor called and says the power is back on! What a relief!

I enjoy simple eating more myself. I do like making raw deserts, though. Anyway, seems my body likes more simple foods and I do better that way, myself. I sure hope you get your power soon. That's difficult.

Poor Winston, getting attacked by a squirrel. Glad you are all doing okay despite the inconveniences. Hang in there. :)

Power outages are no fun! I bet that put a twist in preparing certain raw foods? Two years ago, we had a one week power outage after high winds. With no alternative heat source, we went to the grocery store every day to get warm and sip on some hot coffee! I could have stayed in bed all day, it was warm there, but my kids had other ideas.
