I'm enjoying raw foods - and I'm not really being strict with myself about it. I still occasionally eat ceviche or sushi (both = raw fish), but on the whole I am maintaining High Raw and it's generally pleasing and enjoyable.

My fiance is eating MOSTLY raw foods, but to cut back on his food expenses (we're both budgeting pretty intensely right now) he's eating rice and beans, as well.

It's good. Life is good - hard, but good. :)

I think I say that alot.

I have a dear friend who sounds like you, Martine. She is so loving - always reaching out to help others. And she adores animals - she won't even kill a spider but will call it "sweety" and pick him up on a piece of paper towel and put him outside! But she is empty inside and says she doesn't love herself. Yet she cares for herself in many different ways - physically and spiritually and emotionally - to a degree. But her thoughts can be suicidal. She told me she even "knows exactly how she'd do it". She did go to the hospital the last time her thinking went this far, but unless she hits upon just the right doctor - she'll never open up and spill it all out. She was abused physically and emotionally and sexually by family members when a child and she tried to commit suicide when her bf cheated on her. She wasn't happy when she discovered that it hadn't "worked" and she'd survived. I believe she feels that I'm one of her closest friends and she and I can talk about knitty gritty things for hours on end - days actually. BUT there are some dark secrets deep inside which she will never share. She just can't go there - yet. And I'm sure that's a very big part of why she is ill today - physically. Why am I telling you this? I don't know - maybe just to let you know that I think I recognize that you may be suffering from a similar problem? I truly believe that my friend needs the right kind of help to get to the deepest parts of her mind and heart and "vomit" out all that poison that has been coming to a boil inside over the years. I hope you are going to be alright too and I do feel for you, Martine. How is school going for you? And what about your jobs? You sounded like you had an enormous amount on your plate about the time you were so kind as to give away the box of clothes to "Grace". Have you ever seen her again? Sorry if this is too long.

Hello beautiful lady - I can say that as I have seen your photos. That is what I say to my daughter too as she is also exquisitely beautiful. I once told you, I think, that you have a gift when it comes to writing. But obviously your suffering runs too deep at the moment and you are keeping it in. Just want you to know that we are all feeling for you and hope you are loving yourself - caring for yourself.

I love mangos! My favs are the giant, organic mangos from Mexico that show up at a local market. I will buy them when they are on sale 3/$5. Costco sells a standard mango in a box of 9 for about $8, but they aren't that good.

Oh, I knowww! It's such a pain that they can be so expensive! I'm not sure where you're located, but is there an ethnic store around that would carry them? I know Whole Foods charges a couple of bucks for one, but I can usually get a good deal at East Indian stores. Sometimes grocery stores have deals when mangoes are in season, like 5 for 5 dollars or something

How awesome, Green Woman! One of my friends tried to go raw, and did so for a little bit, but then shrunk back to her normal diet. But it was exciting when she wanted to try it out! I lent her Raw Family :)

That's great about your fiance too! My boyfriend actually went raw to impress me before we were together! Guess what--it worked! haha

Jojoba oil is my recommendation for the dry skin part. It has done wonders for me! Splash a bit of water on your face and with still-wet hands, rub 1 or 2 drops of jojoba oil between your palms. Smooth this all over your face, with a bit more attention to where you have any dry patches. It should not make you break out at all. If you get too much, blot your face with a damp (not wet) towel.

I hear ya. Produce here in the midwest is expensive this time of year and I have to go to several different stores to stay within budget. I treat myself to young coconuts a few times a month though:)
