To be able to sing is such a gift. I can't sing a note (at least in tune) but my heart and soul sing when I hear music.

You will find your place and when you do there will be beautiful music in the world.

Vasil - Thank you for the information about what NON-raw honey REALLY has in it!! I buy my honey from a local bee keeper because I use it to reduce allergies from the area. But thank you very much. :) :)

    Hey Where are you located,?
mY dad is honey producer for the last 20 years.. We used to produce and sell our honey back home in Bulgaria, and we moved to America 8 years ago.. So it took us some time to get used to this country. Now we are doing what we do best.. HONEY. me and my family are disquisted by the mass production of honey here.. in order for the producers to produce in bulk, they feed their bees with sugars and corn sirup, they add medications preservatives and all kinds of bad stuff that should not belong to the honey..
Bottom line is my dads honey is 100% raw organic never heated, nothing added..
I can tell you more if you are interested.. we can ship and we give away free samples :)

I think it is totally do-able in the long run. I am spending $600/month right now to feed 7 people, 3 of them raw. So I think I could do all raw for $700.....maybe. I could definitely feed just ME for $100. My husband and my teen son are big eaters and my two raw teen daughters eat more than I do. I buy my nuts and seeds and some raw produce in bulk from azure standard. That is a real money saver as it is sometimes HALF the price of the HFS. So I lay out a bigger amount at first but it lasts quite awhile. Right now I have a 50 pound bag of organic sunflower seeds in my freezer, lol!

Do you have a garden, or friends and neighbors with gardens? I told my friends I was eating vegan (did not go into the whole raw thing) and asked them to let me know if they hear of anyone with an excess of produce or fruit from their trees. I figured it didn't matter how "pretty" the produce was, and fruit that is bruised or whatever can still be cut up and put into smoothies.

I have ended up being given bags and bags of tomatoes, cukes, onion, beans, squash, as well as several canteloupes and watermelons. I also had a friend tell me to help myself to walnuts from her walnut tree...truly raw nuts! So just get the word out there, if you feel comfortable doing so, that you could gratefully use any raw excess of those around you.

I plan to plant a garden next year and hopefully will harvest enough to share with those around me...sort of the pay-it-forward idea.

I also read on here about someone harvesting wild edible plants. This is something I have never done. I don't remember who it was, but the idea intrigues me! It is, of course, very important to ensure that you know what you've picked and that it is not toxic. And I would imagine cleaning wild produce would also be important, just as with produce from anywhere, since there is no way of knowing what has happened at the site it is picked from.

Seek out and praise the raw goddess. I got 5 olbs or raw cacao, and tons of free veggies...and all sort of out of nowhere. Growing greens is super cheap and totally reliable. Health food stores often have produce give away boxes for stuff they can't sell anymore--just go in and bat your eyes at your local produce dude....drop the phrase "raw foodist" and "broke" and he'll probably hook you up. Same thing for local farmers markets--a lot of loving kindness from people who work with fresh produce all day (wonder why?).

Also, CSA farms. A lot of farms will have you work on the farm for like 3 hrs a week, or something like that, and give you a box of produce every week.

In cities, there are often organic farms that you can "buy into" who will then deliver a box of produce every week. If you can't afford to buy into it, figure out where they put their culls because there's usually tons and tons and tons of produce that isnt' good enough to sell, but is honestly good enough to eat.

Lastly, there's always food banks. People often don't like to take to the produce, so there's lots to be had. You could also ask the health food store, organic farm people if they have a particular food bank they give to.

Oh, heck yeah-- Don't forget WILD FOODS! I'm not sure where you live but there's lots of edibles in most of the US that are actually invasive "weeds"--like dandelion greens, plaintain greens. There are native stuff that's great too, like chickweed, salal berries, blackberries, blueberries, fruit trees everywhere everywhere!

Starfire! Thank you... the pic was taken in Scotland.

I've been eating RAW all along... in fact, this year and a half has been a wonderful journey of wellness-discovery.

We would love to have our wedding in Scotland, but if we can't do that, Northern California is second best.

OMGoodness!! I am sooo happy for you! How exciting.... and very cool about the celtic wedding... the first wedding I performed was on the beach and it was a celtic style wedding.... the groom even brewed mead for the ceremony! How cool!!

Hi Green Woman - I wondered where you disappeared to. Great to have you back, but how long are you going to keep us hanging? Or are you meaning that you are beginning raw again? That's wonderful - any kind of new beginning - a hopeful beginning is a good thing.

    xoxo
