  1. I love sprouts!

Here is the sprouting setup. Pretty low tech! The jars rest on a rolling pin and drain into the sink. I cover them up with a dark dish towel. It works great. I usually have 3 or 4 different ones going at a time. When they get done they go in the fridge and I start new ones. I especially enjoy lentil sprouts and an alfalfa/radish mix.
I am trying amaranth for the first time this week. We shall see! In the photo there are amaranth, garbanzos and mung beans. My problem child is quinoa. I have ...

  2. La la la la la la la....

..I feel happy to be raw.....I have discovered the joys of the collard wrap. We ran out of nori ,so we wrapped sunflower dip and guacamole in perfect big collard leaves. I thought they would be tough and taste like strong broccoli. They were tender and a bit sweet. Yummy! Yesterday I made stuffed mushrooms in the dehydrator. My daughter went crazy for them!
(She was the stuffed mushroom queen when she ate cooked.) She loved them so much that she made another batch today! Tomorrow we are ...

  4. the cat's out of the bag at work!

I shared my Raw experience with most of my workmates this week. People are starting to notice my weight loss. I had mentioned RAW before to those who asked, but now pretty much everyone knows. Everyone was very supportive! People asked valid questions about how I feel and what i eat. Nobody seemed utterly shocked. I do work with some of the kindest folks and I didn't really expect criticism. (Early childhood teachers are generally loving beings. ) Everyone is very happy that I have found something ...

  5. Day 1, month 4!!

I have completed 3 months of RAW!! This is so exciting! The subtle changes continue and my weight continues to go down slowly, but fairly steadily.
My eating has become simpler. Most days I eat simple salad and fruit with some nuts. I still like to dip veggies in nut pates, make simple nori rolls, and we are now making flax crackers once a week. We are drinking green smoothies each morning. I am not a breakfast person. I get hungry at about 11 am. and drink my smoothie at that ...
