  1. I had open heart surgery

Hi! This is Barb, I have been on this site off and on since last fall. I've been on Raw Food Diet on and off it since then too. I really thought my diet wasn't too bad even when off Raw, but boy was I wrong. The problem has been that the damage was already done, and I sure have along way to go.

Tuesday, Nov. 18th, 2008, I underwent open heart surgery, on four clogged arteries.

My whole family has a history of heart disease, hypertension and high

  2. Spending the day with my sweetie

My husband and I had a fun day today. We went out to eat and I was in veggie heaven. Yummy food! My husband was in Mac and Cheese heaven I hate that stuff! ICK! He could eat it every day of the week.

Then we went to Sam's Club and loaded up on groceries, lots of fruit and vegetables. Plus I got raspberry, blueberry, Blackberry, strawberry, asparagus, shallot, and garlic plants/bulbs to plant in my yard. I'm so excited. Now I have to wait for the right time to ...

  3. Taking Care of ME

I keep coming back to Raw Food Talk, even though I have struggled with becoming a Raw Foodist since I found this wonderful website last fall 2007. I still try the recipes, I have Alissa's book and I love Smoothies! I love fruits and veggies, seeds and nuits. So what is the problem?

I have been working the nightshift since October and I hate it! I just don't eat right on this shift. Sometimes, I'm so tired I can't eat, not even the vender junk looks good. I just don't feel good ...

My husband and I have a motto that we used when we were selling our house in Portland, OR. "One day at a time", we have a sign in our living room with the same quote on it. I really feel it has to do with going Raw, a person needs to take it one day at a time, or as my husband has said before, sometimes you have to take it one day, one hour or even one minute at a time.

Christmas has been a weak time for me. I failed going raw again. Also my work makes it hard for ...

  5. I Screwed up!

OH my...my tummy hurts! Whine, whine, whine.

I was doing so well with the Raw Diet lately, eating well, drinking juices and smoothies, not eating cooked food.

Then I made brownies (baked kind) for Christmas, and I ended up eating three. Then I had chinese (my favorite SAD food) with my husband tonight. Now I feel like crap!

I thought being on Raw only for a short period of time, I wouldn't get the upset tummy and headache, but I think I am wrong. ...
