they do get rid of the out-and-out stuff but I figure if they are reading the threads where some of this stuff is then it must be ok now to say ok to people not even aiming for Alissa's Ideal.

I realise there are lots of different paths when it comes to raw but NOT COOKED seems at least to be the very minimum!

Part of the problem is that there is no other forum as extensive as this one so whilst many want the support they aren't following the programme so to speak.

Oh...usually the mods squelch that stuff in threads....thought you were referring to the blogging area where there is more freedom. But yes the threads shouldn't be countering Alissa's philosophy...in fact you should report any of that activity...Aleesha used to mo, not sure if she still is...I've mostly been staying out of the threads lately.

you have totally the wrong end of the stick.

I want the boards to be about Alissa's Way. I don't want the endless stuff about people doing it their way or not at all.

I don't go on about cooked foods but others do. There have been lots of threads lately where people stridently defend their right to eat cooked / meat every day - that's fine by me if they want to but I wish they wouldn't bring it here. Why would they bring it here if not to annoy and cause unsettlement to members.

When I say poison, I mean these people who never intend to give up cooked/non-vegan foods are poisoning the forum.

The boards are all about raw vegan and you aren't supposed to go on about cooked foods, transitional foods, etc, but in the blogs you are allowed...it's the one place that you are allowed to on this board so a lot of people who are not yet 100% can blog honestly without being reprimanded for it.
I personally think it's fair and appreciate it...once you get used to it, it does make perfect sense to have it as such.

I think very often the organic tomato tastes better not because it is organic but because the growers of organic tomatoes grow plants that have flavour rather than ones that produce less tasty fruits all the same size and weight!

I grow tomatoes in the garden and also there are some plum tomatoes in the porch. They are grown "organically" but would never get an organic certificate but they will taste nicer than even the organic ones from the shops.

I'm lucky in that I have always loved fruit and veg and so even when I was eating a terrible cooked diet, I would still enjoy large amounts of fruit and veg.

Once I had an experience of being on a raw diet for 30 days. So I was astonished on the 10th day when I bought just regular tomatoes. Their taste was overwhelming. I never knew that tomatoes can have any taste at all. But that taste I will never forget, it was like they advertise "Bounty - the taste of paradise" . I just melted in the taste. It had a little bit of sweetness, a little bit of sourness and even a touch of salt. But together those tastes created a unique blow-minding flavor. And for the rest of those 30 days I enjoyed tomatoes and other fruits and veggies a lot. I started to notice mere nuances in taste. And I could easily distinguish so-called "organic" food from not organic. Not organic tomato, for instance, is less rich and actually pretty dull in its taste.

See if you can get a forager to come give you sone fungi tutoring on your own land. Be careful what you eat raw as many need to be cooked to be eaten. You can always pick and sell to local restaurants/at markets :)

my land is loaded with all kinds of mushrooms i've never seen before, i wish i knew which were edible.

Picking wild mushrooms was great ... lot of winter chanterelles and some ceps. The markets are great fun and I have some wild spinach, some alexanders and a few other wild greens to sell. Luckily it's not too early a start for this market :)

I've been browsing through Alissa's recipes and I think I might make enchiladas ... maybe ... when I get a dehydrator ... i have to make space first eeek!!!

Yeah, in the beginning it seems like you buy a ton of stuff for staples, but after that it's just replacing things here and there...and you tend to start requiring less food. Biking to work would be great. I wish we had better roads for that here in FL...it's dangerous to ride on the roads here!
Good news on the bf. It's great when you have support like that! Who knows???

I rather equate tasting with eating and he had chicken, ham and wild mushrooms in a white sauce with plain boiled pasta. Not raw so I don't taste it!

He said this evening that he'd like to eat raw with me a few times a week... that has to be a good thing but he'll never give up meat and eggs I don't think!

Isn't it funny how much animals like raw foods? My beagle begs for smoothies, pineapple, banana, coconut meat, oil, flax, crackers, hummus, pesto, apples...ok, well you get the picture. He's a rawbie. Why can't you taste the food before seving? I tend to smell, taste and poke at it many times before serving to adjust flavors...?
