Tamai, heat is used to get most nuts out of their shells and cashews especially so.

Speltrong, I use a few non-raw things and one which I have started using is balsamic vinegar but I really feel this is a bad idea. I should use an organic apple cider vinegar really. Balsamic is heated oftentimes to make it sweeter.

    Are Cashews not considered "raw"??

I am the same as you. I consider myself to be 100%, but in reality I am probably 95%. I think there is a lot of confusion out there about which foods are actually raw (just because the package says raw doesn't necessarily mean it is). I also sometimes use very small amounts of products that I know are not raw, but they add enough dimension to my food, and are in such small quantities that I don't worry about it (things like vinegars and hot sauces).

I think if I had made a honey dressing then it would have been fine. The lemon or vinegar would have cut the sweetness but the flavour of the honey would have remained. Live and learn and all that.

LOL, I'm laughing about your lettuce and honey combo. Seems like it shouldn't be that bad since some salad dressings have honey in them (like honey mustard), but I will keep in mind that it's a no-go! :-)

we have various names for peas but on the whole we just call them peas or garden peas. Most people here wouldn't know a pea unless it came in an icy packet with Bird's Eye written across the front. I am unaware of anything we might call an American pea!

My bf was trying to grow them in the garden this year but refused to listen to the best way to do it - I've grown them for years - so we don't have peas this year!

I think having a cooked food eater in the house in the winter might be trickier. I'm trying not to pre-guess it though. I'll cross the bridge when I get there.

I think it's getting close to having a new avatar time. The current one is from when I was raw last time and whilst I don't think I am very close to that yet, think it has served it's purpose!

My husband was reading this as I was typing about English Peas, and he wanted me to ask you if you guys still call them English Peas, or if you have a special pea called an American Pea. I told him I would ask you!

Well said! I love your term "monkey mind".. I am going to have to start using that. :-)

I totally agree about energy being regulated. I used to feel fatigued a lot, and except for my recent medical issues, that has pretty much all gone away.

I just bought some green beans from the farmer's market today, and I have to say that I do not enjoy them raw nearly as much as cooked, so I think I'm going to have to cross that veggie off my list. But I also bought a huge bag of english peas (the kind you shell and then eat the little pea from the inside), and they were fantastic! Maybe give those a try? And hey, you're in the UK, so English peas should be easy to find, right? ;-)

As for living with a cooked food eater and sticking to eating raw food, I don't even know what to say. You are a saint, truly... I'm very impressed by that! And the smell of bacon still makes my mouth water too, but I also can't fathom eating it.

Well the main flow lasted two days ... that's a full five days less than before. The only thing I can say on the pain front is that my jeans felt a little tighter than normal and I had a mild "stuffed with-cotton-wool" feeling in my abdomen but it wasn't reall what you'd call pain and it wasn't bloating from food either.

thanks but it doesn't need dulse. It's bizarre how the salt and lemon is enough.

Also could try some dulse - I've put it in almost tuna and it adds a seafood taste.
