  1. Day two

    I changed the main meal last night to raw chow mein, using courgette (zuchini) and carrot noodles. It was fantastic :)

    No hunger pangs.

    This morning I have a ton of facial zits/spots/pimples, horrible! I made a facepack of oatmeal and cucumber to help sooth it all.

    My nose is running, so I expect detox has started. I am feeling very quiet today. Not sluggish, but that internal quiet which you find when you meditate.

  2. The Highlander's Return

    Ok, I was 100% raw for 15 days last year, then managed to scupper the ship and revert to standard vegan.

    It did change the way I ate, and I continued to juice and eat large salads even when no longer RAW. My carpal tunnel problem has all but disappeared I believe due to juicing, and my chronically cold hands and feet have greatly improved.;)

    The other influence it had was I became a Gatherer; more veggies in the garden, and wild mushrooms, wild berries and wild herbs, ...

  3. Day 6

    Feeling a bit muzzy from lack of sleep, otherwise ok. Not a lot to report.

    Food:
    Banana
    Gazpacho soup with salsa and cashew aioli
    Avocado Greek salad
    Pumpkin pie

    I don't think I am going to be able to finish the pie before it goes off, as it is very rich. I only managed 1/16 of the pie and that was with an effort.

    Drinks:
    Apple and lemon juice
    Carrot and beet juice
    Green smoothies
    Water

  4. Day 5, dark night of the soul

    I wasn't going to journal about day 5. It was hell, a real dark night of the soul.

    Physical detox was doing well, the headache had become a mere background noise. I walked the dog for miles around the mountain. Had eaten well all day then...

    I don't really know what happened, but I found myself going through all my old memories of pain, grief and anger. I relived each event, and sobbed my heart out. I asked for the ability to let it all go.

  5. Day 4

    Still got a headache and am feeling very unenergetic, and grouchy.

    Food:
    Fruit salad and chopped nuts
    Gazpacho soup topped with salsa and cashew nut aioli (my recipes)
    Chocolate mousse with a banana
    Lentil and vegetable coconut curry served over sliced summer squash

    Drink:
    4 green smoothies glasses (about a pint in total)
    4 pints of water

    Exercise:
    Walked the dog 3 miles
    45 minutes weights
