and -- I agree with greenday - I'd go see yr dr. Yr health is nothing to ignore - you have genuine issues you are healing - pay attention to what yr body is telling you. It might be detox - but it might be yr blood pressure - don't stress over it - just go get it checkd. ;) You be good to yourself now lil miss jeannieh....

I'm not sure if you dh meant that you could never think about food. I agree that there has to be some thought as in planning the meals, the snacks, preparing yr foods, maybe do that once a day - like in the morning - or nite b4 - write it down and stick to it for the most part - and if yu feel like haveing something else - just have it - nbd. Just don't read 20 different diet or health related books - don't study 20 different forums.. ;) (i know 20 is an exaggeration!)

I'm no expert here...but I think the trick is to keep busy and have other interests and activities going on that take priority over food. The food should happen naturally (like driving a car, you don't think about every step of the driving process do you?). It might not be a bad idea to see your doctor! He/she can help you with how your medical situation is adjusting to your new diet. You shouldn't have to live with nonstop pain - your body is telling you something, don't ignore it. :)

Central City Co-op is a good one. It's next to Montrose and Westheimer. I'm in west Houston, so it's a bit of a trek. I haven't been to all of the markets. Be sure to visit Google and call them up. I usually go to the one on Richmond, just inside the loop. Peace.

Google these Farmers' Markets in and around Houston: Central City Co-op, Bayou City Farmers Market, Midtown Farmers Market, Houston Farmers Market, Katy Farmers Market, The Woodlands Farmers Market, Fresh Food Market at Armand Bayou Nature Center

he is also right about the different forums --one forum - maybe two ... okay -- but more than that - you're bordering on obsession - get your mind off of who said what - garlic good? garlic bad?? it's too confusing right now while youre trying to find your balance! too many opinions... not good!

dh ... IS RIGHT. I agree about the scale - throw the damn thing out - (or give it away to a friend to keep AND HIDE from you!)

Sometimes the hardest truths to swallow are those spoken by our spouse.
But he is the closet to you...he may have a point. Sometimes I feel myself get a little out of balance tilting towards food too. Perhaps it's a good time to make a quick list of non-food related fun things you can do. Free concert, visit museum, go to beach, bubble bath, buy some flowers, take a photography class, etc. Who knows, it may be fun???

He might have a point... I mean, several yahoo groups is a lot. I got to a point like that too, and I had to scale it way back. You'll need to discover something new to do. I am working on a kid's book for example....and my house. I mean I am learning raw food info at a slower pace as a result, but that's ok, I am still raw (on day 9, woohoo!). ...or reading a novel? Anything, sky's the limit, don't be afraid :)

I don't think that people who are raw are any more obsessed with food than SAD eaters. When i was at my heaviest, it felt like my life revolved around food, waiting for the next opportunity to eat.

I think you are right, that you are working on your issues. I know that just going raw did not with my compulsive eating issues. That's continuing emotional work.

I do agree with your dh about the scale! Scales can be so manipulative!

LOL....you are a hoot girl!!! I love you!! You make me smile everytime I read your words. I appreciate that so much.

I agree with you. I know that is my dilemma, not really enjoying what I am eating and just eating for bulk. I am going to try to make the tortillas you suggest.
    Thanks,
    Jeannie

and - they do have some inexpensive dehydrators at Walmart - places like that... I would have failed 4 months ago if I only ate for bulk... forget that - I just can't do it.. I need yumminess.. I need flavor and taste and texture to dance on my tongue!! and losing 11 pounds is wonderful... ! It's a start -- it's part of the journey -- and you should be proud of that!! Keep it up Jeannie - but switch it up a bit girll... get the tango goin in your mouth!!

jeannie -- why are you eating for bulk and not for taste? Maybe if you ate for taste -- some things that are really raw and yummy... you will be more satisfied! If you don't have a dehydrator - use your oven on it's lowest setting - prop the door open slightly and make some raw tortillas - I must've eaten 5 or 6 of those today already!! they're wonderful - way more tasty than the regular store bought ones!

Alissa is one of the most highly respected raw food instructors around - so - I listen to the wisdom that she shares with us. I know some people say - no garlic, no onions... no this no that... my body says - yes to garlic and onions - so -- I eat it. I can't sweat the small stuff - it would make me crazy! I just eat raw and make healthy choices! You my dear - are doing really great tho!! You should be very proud of yourself!! ;)

I consider myself a newbie at all of this - I've only been doing this for 4 months... so there is still a ton of stuff I need to learn. That's why I do not spend time on other websites - or other blogs - because I am so young and I don't know a lot of stuff and I don't want to get confused. I know Alissa's plan works. I have done it - am doing it- and I love it -- so here I sit day after day... because I trust what she teaches.

jeannie - find your own balance... eat healthy -- eat raw -- and eat garlic LOL!!! HAHAHAAA.... SORRY COULDN'T RESIST! okay look - for EVERYTHING in life --- no matter what it is - you will find an argument for or against. There is nothing -NOT ONE THING - that everyone agrees on. So - listen to your body - and do what you feel is right for you. ;)
