I want to go on a fast (either a juice fast or the MC), but I am currently training for a half marathon. My weekly long runs right now are about 8 km (5 miles) and they steadily increase each week. Would I be able to sustain the fast while training or would my body not have enough energy? Otherwise maybe I'll just do a green smoothie fast...of sorts. Thanks!!

onlymy y personal opinion,.....
any form of concentrated detox like fasting, puts your body in a postion to work harder (liver=blood=energy). Even post fasting, toxins are still loose and the food we interoduce back into it carries it out the colon. Post fast is a time to rebuild and the body needs as much rest and ease into routines to make the adjustments. The digestive system has been shut down and reintroducng foods is not an overnite deal. So I would wait to do the fasting after you have done the half marathon-IMO.
Green smoothies is an excellent idea......you have all the bulk, fiber, nutrients.vitamins and minerals!!!! It still has detoxification results but just not concentrated as fasting so it's not like you are missingo it if you fast later.

Training for a marathon, is hard enough on a person body. You in the mode of increasing body's endurance - pushing it futher and futher to go to it's maxuim point and than a little more in order to carry you through plus eating strategicly for this goal of high endurance.
During a fast your body is sorta in "slow mow mode". And to much excercise you'll feel like you want to pass out. Even from a simple ride in the car and then standing up to get out of the car you can get a little dizzy :( . This is from my experience. I am on day # 9 of a 10 day juice fast, ( this being my first 10 day long juice fast). Plus after my fast is over i have about a week of recovery to get back eating normally, so I'm looking a total of 15 days.I have 2 days of my fast were I felt extradinary energy and I was able to do 3/4 workout - working with weights and stretching form only - no way could I personaly do any type running/joging. Walking yes. I nocur with misslinds on waiting till after your marathon is completed and your body and training regimen returns to a less endurance type of training. :)
When is your marathon? and how long is it? what is your training regimen now for food intake and workout, for those of us who have thought about running in a marathon? (though you might have to stick this into a new thread under excercise area  )
