Anyone else feel kind of icky after eating a lot of nuts?? Today I ate some of Alissa's Fetuccino Alfredo and then bit of the Mock Salmon Pate a few hours later, and now my stomach is aching! There are a lot of nuts between those too recipes, and I think they may be the cause of my discomfort. Should I be soaking the nuts beforehand?? It didn't mention soaking them in the recipes..

OOPS!

sorry, yes soaking vital---removes the enzyme inhibitors. Makes it easier to digest. Try it that way and see how you respond. ;)

 just pass me some chicken grease.

I also wanted to add.more than likely the nuts but some people may be food combination senstive or the recipe just doesn't agree with them. IF you're new to raw, you may be experiencing the "scrub down" of raw foods=high in fiber and enzymes. Don't be suprised if you experience gas and bloating..........it too shall come to "pass" no pun intended ;)

I had the same reaction to the fettucine alfredo and mock salmon ! I was so sick ! My body just does not agree with a lot of nuts ! I have found I can only do recipes that call for almonds, macs & cashews are out of the question for me and more then 1/2 cup of pine nuts makes me sick. I can handle some walnuts but not many of those either.
I do eat a lot of almonds, soaked and dehyrdrated. We are all different and of course not going to be able to eat or enjoy the same foods. I stick with fresh greens and fruit and avoid recipes with nuts. Alissa's avocado chutney and avacado cups are awesome ( if you have not tried those yet ).

I have the same problem to nuts as well. I tried Samuel Wilson's Spicey Brocolli n Cheese and was so sick the next morning. I felt like I had eaten an entire SAD pizza. Ugh. On the flipside I can do Rawviolies, weird huh? Maybe it is the combination of things, I don't know. But, like MBF said I can do almonds and I can do sunflower seeds easily enough. You'll just have to figure out what works for you. Fortunately, nature made us all different or it would be a boring world!

Hey Jinx, I can do sunflower well actually most seeds as well ! I forget every once in a while and try a new nutty recipe out of desperation for something new to eat that's more like a meal but thne realize after a small nibble i have made a mistake..again. I have Allissa's bean less falafel in the dehydrator now. They have a lot of almonds but hope they will be good.

hmm

this one time i ate half a jar (small, though) of almond butter and my entire abdomen swelled up (not just bloating, actually was swollen) and i couldn't move from my bed without feeling as though i was going to throw up.

lasted about 12 hours. it was pretty rough.

this happened once also with pecans. i love pecans though, and eat them still..just make sure i don't have more than a few.
