Hi, guys : )
I live in Dallas, TX, and I was wondering how many others of you do as well. I was thinking that there are probably a decent number of us, and if so, we could maybe band together and ask Whole Foods to start carrying things like raw oats, raw carob, and nama shoyu.
If you live in Dallas, would you please let me know so that we can get a better idea of how many of us there are?
Thank you much!
Also, do any of you know of specialty stores (Asian markets, produce coops, and the like) where you can get great deals? I can't afford to go all organic, so I'd be interested in all types of stores.
Besides Whole Foods, I shop a lot at the Farmer's Market (awesome vegetable prices and quality) and Fiesta grocery stores (awesome fruit prices and quality). If you're not organic, I'd highly recommend checking those places out! Best conventional quality and prices I've found anywhere.

Hi Julesmoz!
I'm in the Dallas metro. North Dallas suburbs area. I'm 35 (just turned last week!) and have two boys ages 5 and 9. I've been off and on raw
for over 3 years.
Whole Foods does carry Nama Shoya; i think it's just the Plano location though.
They also carry raw unheated honey, Lara bars, cocao nibs and goji berries.
Don't know about the raw oats as I have never checked. Yes, I would love to be able to get raw carab powder locally too. I am gonna check with my coop.
I just joined an organic produce coop:
http://www.yourhealthsource.org/
I don't know that much about it yet because I just sent my 1st check yesterday to try it out. So can not vouch for it yet, but it seems to be a big coop well run, very professional, and lots of pick-up points throughout the metro. The owner eats most of her diet raw vegan, but not 100%
I believe you can get raw organic nuts and dates too. I will update you after I pick up my 1st order next week and talk with them more.
also another organic produce coop run by very strict raw foodists is
over in Richardson. They are big followers of David Wolfe and carry
many products from Nature's 1st Law (www.rawfood.com).
I use to do there coop for like a year, but they
have 1/2 case minimums on their produce and it was getting to much for me and the girl that split it with me moved. But you can check it out and they
might be able to hook you up with someone to split the mimimums with:

Feel free to PM me anytime with anymore questions.

I have a question for you now Julesmoz :D
Have you shopped at the Dallas Farmer's Market (the big one downtown)
recently? and do they carry organics at all????
I wanted to go down there and look around, but wanted to know about
what kind of organics they sell before I drive all the way downtown.
What other farmers markets do you go to?
thanks!

I only know of one Farmer's Market here -- the one downtown. They don't have any organic stuff :(
I do appreciate the coop ideas, though, and thanks for telling me about the Plano Whole Foods. Do you remember how much their Nama Shoyu costs?

Arctic Mist,
I picked up my 1st coop yesterday and was quite pleased.
Everything looked really good thus far. FRESH!
Very efficient too. I am on a 3 time trial; than after that I have to pay $25 to be a member. I'll report back and let you know if I still like it after a few more
pick ups. But Yes, I am happy with my produce I got yesterday. It's a mixed boxed type of coop. You pay the same amount each time and get a variety
of produce.
This was for the yourhealthsource coop.
This is what I got this week (I just did the Basic share this time around):
Basic Share $40

Celery
Carrots
