I have been suffering from bloating and constipation on SAD and it all went away with raw..but I still have a question. How come not everyone gets these symptoms on SAD? Not that I am angry that I can't eat SAD but it just makes me wonder why some people are OK on SAD?

The foods in the SAD will produce varying results in different people.
Some people eat SAD food and get extremely overweight while others remain thin but that thin person may experience some health challenges that the overweight person does not and vice-versa.
When I eat SAD food, my face breaks out in terrible acne, but some of the women in my family have BEAUTIFUL skin YET, they have had cancer scares, high blood pressure, thyroid issue, etc. They're SICK, but I never was, just break out and I would also have chronic headaches and migraines.
One of my sisters-in-law has bad eczema, but her siblings do not.
So everyone responds differently to SAD. But I would say that most people DO feel bloated and constipated on SAD (I know I did) but it's become so "normal" that it's almost expected and people don't know they can feel any differently until they clean up their diets, experience the lighter feeling of eating raw and then go back to SAD.
Think about holiday time when everyone eats and eats until they can do nothing else but sit back and unbuckle their pants and fall asleep! No one views that as a bad thing, it just means they "ate good"...but once you begin eating raw and your body adjusts to how it should REALLY feel after eating, then you realize that feeling that way after a meal is not normal nor is it a good thing.
Also bear in mind that sometimes people can seem "ok" eating SAD, but if you see them a few years or so later you will find that it just took time for the effects to show up in them. My son still likes to eat SAD food and he doesn't get the same ill effects that, let's say my daughter gets. He thinks he's fine...but I keep telling him that problems will probably manifest themselves in him later on if he keeps it up and doesn't change his eating habits for the better!

Some people do seemingly well on SAD appearances wise, but do they feel really great? Are they setting themselves up for diseases? Could they be even healthier? I sometimes used to wish I were as lucky as some but now I realize that just the fact that I am eliminating a huge potential for health problems and disease is enough for me to to not even think about my problems with SAD.

My husband has been so miserable on the SAD diet, he managed for years, then last three weeks he has had gas, bloat, pain, cramps and little visits to the BR. He is so miserable 4 days ago he came to me begging to go on my Raw Diet. Today he is a bit better but it will take him time to get to normal again I fear ...I had some cooked protein the other day....Instant Gas. The reason I went raw......L.

Here is something funny,
When I used to eat sad, I would get gas from veggies sometimes, now that I am raw, I do not get gas. EVER.

lol..Karen I know what you mean...cooked broccoli for me was a disaster! Raw one=no problems!
I am so relieved after reading your posts! I thought something was wrong with me because everyone around me seems to be OK with SAD..but sometimes what you can't see doesn't mean its not there!
Rawkinlocks you have answered my question perfectly! Thank you for that. I realized that I can see more of what you are describing..SAD eaters getting tired and moaning how "stuffed" they feel...before I too thought that was normal but now when I hear it I know that they are really in pain..I know I was!
I love how I feel after eating raw! Light, joyful, happy :)
Love to all

Also regarding "looking ok on SAD", remember that most people on SAD get tired after eating and need a morning coffee to get them going or a coffee after lunch in the afternoon or they get tired after lunch. By the time they are finished dinner, most just want to relax on the couch and are ready to turn in for the night by 9 pm. Also when I awake in the morning on raw, I just pop out of bed and feel great, when I cheated and ate cooked, I took a nap a few hours after and awoke feeling exhausted, weak in the arms and legs and my eyelids felt light dumbells. Remember, this used to be considered normal for me. It now seems like a sickness to me. You don't see these things in people when they put on their "work attitude" or their "I'm out in public attitude". How many people do you think get done eating a SAD meal and then get up and say, I feel great. I don't remeber ever doing that. I rarely need a nap except when I am noticably detoxing.
